Attempted Massacre?

On Wednsday, April 28, a fifteen-year-old student entered Woodrow Wilson High School and fired three shots and two of them were fired in the cafeteria during lunch. School officials are left with questions about the safety of the students. The suspect was suspended for fighting in school. No students were wounded. Superintendent David Stuckwich told the Virginian Pilot "A kid let him in. That's what we believe". Whether the metal detectors were on or not, school officials don't know but the security cameras were rolling, but somehow the suspect got in.

Read the hyperlinked article. We will view the news video. Wow, what do you think?

I want to know what you think could have happened if the student had stayed and shot more shots but aimed at someone. Also, the prosecution wants to try the suspect as an adult. Do you think this is right? Lastly, do you think that this could've been another Columbine?

Many thanks to Kayne B. for being our guest blogger today! :)

I think that this is a very scary thing. I would have been crying in a corner praying. I think that all teachers should lock there doors, because there would be no excuse of how they got there. It is also a nice thing to do to keep the students safe.

Indeed it is a very scary thought, to think that a fellow student would walk in with the sole intention of inflicting pain. Though unfortunately it is a very difficult situation to prevent. For unless they institute a search at the entrance of the school. It is a very nerve-racking thought, and something needs to be done.

I think that if the shooter would have been there longer and fired at someone there would be serious injuries or maybe even death. If something like that would have happened in Windsor I would be so scared and just be freaking out. I do think there was another columbine I think that the kid that let the other one in with the gun were working together.

It was a scary thing that happened, but it could have been a lot worse. Luckily, no one was injured or killed. If the offeneder had the intentions to kill people I think he would have. I think he should be charged as an adult. Since you have to be 18 to own a fire arm, in this case the young boy should be charged as an adult.

i think that was sothing sacry and and just something not good at all .

I think it is right that he is being tried as an adult. He could have killed someone if he had fired more shots. They should get more security at the school.

well I think if the student had stayed and shot at someone that person most likely would have been injured at least. I also think the student should be tried as an adult because it seemed premeditated.

If the student had stayed and shot more rounds, it is more likely that someone could have been hurt or worse. As for the trying him as an adult and I personally don't know that I have an opinion about that. As for this being another Columbine, I am really not to sure.

I think that he should be tried as an adult. This wasn't an accident, he knew full well what he was doing. I'm glad that he didn't shoot at anyone, but still he shouldn't have come to school with a gun in the first place.

I definitely don't think that it is right to bring a gun to school. I think he should be tried as an adult, because he knows that its not right to bring a weapon to school. I like the idea that they have medal detectors. If he had stayed and shot more rounds, their might have been a worse outcome.

Well I think that if the boy would have stayed than someone would have got killed. Maybe the person he was mad at that made hiom do this would have been killed. I also think that he should be trailed as adult because he was grown enough to go in school with a gun so now he grown eough to take the sentence they give him.

i think the student that had the gun would have stayed n shot more rounds he surely would have injured or killed someone in the process.
the student was 15 years old if hes still a minor he has no right being tried as an adult.
im not even sure what really happened at columbine so i cant answer that question

I think the guy who was shooting deserves a very severe punishment. Yes, I think he should be tried as an adult. He could have really hurt someone. I don;t know what Columbine is, so I can't elaborate on that.

I do not really understand why the person did it, but it was technically not attempted murder because if he wanted to shoot somebody, he could of. So I don't exactly understand why he is being tried as an adult. I seriously think the administration at that school is sorry to say it, but dumb. They think that the SOL's are more important than the school's safety.

I used to go there I'm just glad I was not there on that day. And I'm just glad nobody was hurt. Also yes he should be tried as a adult because if you man enough to handle a gun your man enough to go to jail.

I think that a lot of people could have been killed if he would have aimed and shot at anybody. I don't really know because he could have killed somebody but he didn't or, they could look at it as he attempted murder. No I don't think this could have been another Columbine.

I just think it's a shame that people can do crazy things like take a life on a whim. But then again you never know how that boy was provolked into doing what he did but he shouldnt be tryed as an adult i just think he should be locked up until he is eighteen

The childs intention was to harm someone. If the kid could act on adult decisions, he can handle the punishments that follow. Security systems should always be on for unexpected times like these. Its heart wrenching to know with maybe a few more moments he could have taken a life.

I think he should be tried as an adult, if your playing with adult toys then you should pay the consequences. What good are metal detectors off? What good are security cameras that don't show every angle of every door at a "protected" school? Plus, are in the wrong parents for leaving a fire arm in the reach of children.

It is a very thing to happen to a school. They should have used the metal detectors that day. He should be tried as an adult.

I think that people like that just won’t to be to be seen. They might just have something at home that they are take out on the people at school.
