Cinco de Mayo

Today, May 5 is, of course Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for the fifth of May), a day associated with Mexico. You have probably heard people talking about Cinco de Mayo. Maybe you have been invited to or know of a party celebrating it.

What do you know of the history of Cinco de Mayo? It seems like it is a bigger day in the United States than in parts of Mexico! Mexican Independence day is actually September 16. On May 5, 1862 the Mexican army defeated the French army at the Battle of Puebla. So yes, I guess you could say that it is a big day anyway. This site will give you more information on the day.

What do you know about this holiday? Will you be celebrating later today? What do you think of Mexican food? You post should answer at least one of these questions! Here are a couple of videos that may help inspire you!

I do not know much about the holiday itself. All I know is that it is very important to the Spanish. Though, I will most likely not be celebrating this holiday, I still enjoy the Mexican food it brings.

The only mexican food I ever tasted is tacos. Mexican food tends to be filled with spices that I cant handle. I think it would me fun if I were mexican. Its kinda like a big family reunion.

I love Mexican food. I wish I could eat it every day. I have also been there. The beaches are wonderful, and I love the culture there. People say that you should not drink the water there so I was a little scared at first to go.

Mexican culture is spicy. Their food is very good. I never really heard Cinco de Mayo mentioned, its not popular among me or my family and friends. However, Mexicans are proud and celebrate the independence achieved on September 16th.

I have no idea what this holiday is about. Since I do not have Mexican origins I will not be celebrating Cinco De Mayo. The only thing about it I like is the food. All the delicious Mexican food, being so spicy. I love it. That's all I know though

I think that as Americans, we always need an excuse to have a party. That is why we take important days from other countries (like Cinco de Mayo from Mexico) to have fun and enjoy Mexican food, which I think is alright if nachos are your thing. Other than nachos, I don't like any other Mexican food.

I love eating tacos. I’ve never celebrated Cinco de mayo but, would be cool to have one day out of the year especially for mexican food. I didn't really know why they celebrated it until today, but I have heard of it before.

The only Mexican food I ever tasted is tacos. I love tacos. They tasted so good. I’ve never celebrated Cinco de Mayo. One day I would really like to celebrate it in Mexico. I know they are partying like it's their last day. We have Mexicans living in the U.S.A. They have some good songs but I can't understand them.

Iv been around Cinco de Mayo and have celebrated it twice with friends. I learned about it in Arizona were I lived for 5 years while my mom was stationed on Davis Mothan Air Force Base. Mexican food is ok it just turns my stomach but they did come up with the best invention of all time the quesadilla.
