Earth Day is a day where people take time out to contemplate how their actions impact the planet on which we live. So, how do you "observe" or "celebrate" Earth Day? Do you try to take care of the planet every day of the year, only on this one day, or not at all?
Here is a thought. We can all make a positive impact on the environment if we do just one simple thing. For example, turn off the lights when you are not in the room. Turn off the water when you are brushing your teeth and turn it on when you rinse your toothbrush. Or, recycle your papers. Too often, I notice students throwing papers in the trash instead of using the recycle bags in the classroom.
Please tell the group the one thing you do or can do to help the environment. If we all try to do just one thing it will make a big difference. My thing is to recycle paper! What is your thing?

Everyone could do alot to save the earth. One thing i would do is try to stop people from litering. Also i dont recycle anything so i really dont have a thing. Also if everyone did help the Earth then it would be a better place.
I think Earth Day is a great idea. :) My step mom and I do an annual trash cleanup on a road through the woods close to our house. People like to throw their trash where it doesn''t belong. Occasional but steady cleanups are my thing.
I agree Earth day is very important and deserves the attention. The earth is our planet and we should keep it clean and stop global warming. One of the things we could do reuse, reduce and recycle. Try your hardest to reuse things if you can that would cause less material to have to be made. Reduce what you use like lights if you dont need them, or water if you dont need it. Also recycle paper and items instead of throwing them in the trash which cause it to leake into our oceans.
Well, let me start off by saying how wonderful Earth Day is! We should all help out, it all adds up, but not everyone remembers it all the time. I turn off my lights when I don't use them and don't keep running the water when im not using it. Another thing is cars and the carbon monoxide coming out of them. Millions of people are on highways everyday, this won't be a fast process. Its not hard to switch to a hybrid, they save lots of things besides the Earth.
I think it’s really cool that we have earth day. I like how people get together to make our environment cleaner and more like earth should be. I really never have celebrated earth day but sounds interesting. My family has always recycled so that’s a good plus and we recycle paper. Everyday should be earth day!
One major thing we can do, is to stop littering. All around this area there are ditches that are full to the brim with garbage. If we all made the effort, we could keep this area clean and beautiful for many years to come.
I observe Earth Day not just on April 22, but everyday. People don't understand how important it is to take care of our planet. I always pick up trash when I see it on the ground, I always make sure all the lights are turned off in the house before I leave, and I never leave the water running. I don't understand why people litter, how much harder would it be to just throw it in the garbage?
i think that earth day is a event that people celeabrate and its a day to keep the earth clean and thats what i think about earth day is.
On Earth Day I don't really celebrate it. I usually keep doing what I usually do in my everyday routine. The one thing I do that has a positive effect on the environment is I don't litter. On other occasions if I remember at the time I will try to recycle whatever can usually be recycled. Keeping the environment clean is important; that's why I try to do the best I can!
Earth day is pretty cool. It lets people take responsibility for their actions and try to help the environment for future generations. You can recycle tin cans. Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours!!!
I think that recycling paper is a wonderful thing to do, as well as some others. I would walk around parts of the community and collect trash around the surronding areas. I would also pck up trash along lakes, and other bodies of water, to prevent them from getting into the water, effecting the animals inside.
I don't really put any effort into recylcing or none of that. I guess i could recycle and encourage people to do the same. That's about all i can do.
I mean, I joke around, around the house saying "GO GREEN" and turn off every light in every room that nobody is in. I don't really recycle paper and things but, I don't litter either. I mean really? Is it that hard to walk probably about another foot to the trash can? I don't ever leave the water running unless I'm like in the shower or something.
What I do to help the environment is I make sure that I turn off the lights when I go out of a room and I even make sure the water goes off when brushing my teeth. I think that people should help the earth more often so that it will be healthy and a safe place to live. If we all come together we can make a difference. So people should not just do it on earth day, they should do it every day.

I agree that earth day is a very important holiday.I think we should have the day out of school just to clean the earth. That includes gardening, recycling and taking out the trash. Now whether people care enough to do it is a different story.
This is a very good idea in trying to help the environment. To be able to help, some people could practice being more green or could pick up trash that they see outside. I would have to say that when it comes to me and helping the environment I try and reduce my use of lights around the house.
I think Earth Day is a good idea. I have never celebrated Earth Day but it sounds cool. I recyle plastic cups.
I think that one helpful thing leads to another. To save the enviornment people could recycle plastic. My family doesn't leave the lights on when not in use.
There are many ways to help clean up our Earth. One way is to recycle our paper, glass, and plastic everyday. Another way we could also help the environment is by using electric cars instead of using carbon monoxide emitting vehicles. Those are just two ways to help but there are many more ways that any person can help. Even one person trying to help can make the world a better place.
One thing we can do to help the environment is to stop throwing trash out the car when we go down the road. The reason I say this is because everybody do it. If we all can work on this one thing the earth will be so much better and cleaner.
I think people could do more to save the earth. A lot of people are going green to help with this cause though. I also think that earth day is a very important day and more people should get involved.
I feel like on this day it's time to help our mother earth. It's time to pick up all the trash and recycle to be green. Save our trees. We need the trees to live and so does wildlife. People like to put trash where it doesn’t belong and you can kill the little animals.
I think Earth day is a very important day for us to observe. We can all help clean up and protect the enviorment not just on Earth day but everyday. Simple tasks like recycling plastic, not waisting paper or water, and putting trash in the trash, all of these can keep the Earth clean.
I don't really know if I help the Earth or not. I love the Earth because it is God's place and he gave it to us for a place to have fun and praise him. Every time my brother litters I tell him to pick it up and put in the trash.
Earth day is ok I guess, I really don’t do anything to help it. I do recycle bottles though I guess I could do more for the environment. Like recycling paper and stuff like that.
Earth Day is very important to our world, because It's one day we can actually make a change. And everything little thing counts. Just by helping out by cleaning up liter, or planting trees and flowers, carpooling, riding your bike, anything can make the biggest changes. And its a very important day to consider.
Tomorrow is Earth Day; Earth Day is an amazing a part of everyday life events. Earth Day is important to everyone without the Earth we would be nothing, without plants, trees, animals we would have no oxygen or food. I think on Earth Day everyone should plant a tree or flower in pride of our Earth. Our Earth is being destroyed by littering, pollution, and other terrible things. Let us all get together and make Earth Day memorable.
I think that Earth Day is a good to get involved in. I have never actually celebrated earth day, but I try to recycle as much a possible. I don't understand why people throw trash on the ground when there is a trash can right in front of them. So anytime I see trash I pick it up. Why can't people take care of the earth?
I think that protecting our environment is very important. There are a few things we can all do to help. First, we can recycle soda cans and bottles. Another thing we can all do is to stop littering. If no one threw trash on the ground, then no one would have to go behind them and clean it up. Would you want some one throwing trash in your yard? My family and I recycle plastic bags and request paper ones at the store.
