Thanksgiving

Thursday is Thanksgiving.  The history of Thanksgiving goes back to the days of the Pilgrims, so in many ways it is truly an American holiday. Read about Thanksgiving history in the link.

With a four day weekend coming up, I am sure that you will have many opportunities to do many of the things that make you happy, in addition to visiting friends, family and of course hopefully enjoying some good food.

Now for your assignment, share with your classmates three items.  In your post, list some things that you are thankful for.  Name one fact that you learned from your reading. What plans do you have for Thanksgiving and the rest of the weekend?

Enjoy the video.  Finally, be safe and enjoy your time off.  .

One fact that I learned in the reading was that the history of first Thanksgiving as a holiday goes back to 1620. For Thanksgiving this year we are going to my mom’s sisters and having breakfast, and then we are going to my aunt Aletas for lunch. For dinner we are inviting friends over and having a party. For the rest of my four day weekend we are going black Friday shopping and sleeping.

One thing I’m thankful for from thanksgiving is all the food I’m going to be eating. I can’t wait to fill my stomach up with all the food I’m going to have on my plate. Thanksgiving actually came from when pilgrims came over from Plymouth Rock in 1621. For my weekend and for thanksgiving I’m going to be eating with my mom and spending time with my family, then Sunday I’m going to my girlfriends.

I learned that New York was the first state to adopt Thanksgiving has an official holiday. There are many things I am thankful for, some include: My family, my friends, and my church. On Wednesday I am going over to my aunt’s house and eating dinner with family. On Thanksgiving it will just be my immediate family; we always have steak and shrimp on the actual day. On Sunday night we are having my mom’s side of the family come over and eat at our house.

I am mostly thankful for my parents, life, and all the food I’m about to eat on Thanksgiving Day. This four day weekend is going to be crazy. My family meets at another family member’s house for Thanksgiving every year and we eat talk and watch football all day. So this Thanksgiving weekend I’m going to get fat and have fun.

I am just amazed by how much history is behind Thanksgiving. It is really old, so it should be respected as it is a part of America's important history. That is surprisingly enough to make me be thankful for Thanksgiving.

The things I am thankful for are my family, friends, and life. I learn that in the first thanksgiving did not involve turkey but evolved many years later. I plan on spending thanksgiving with my friends and family. And for the rest of the week I'm going hunting with family and friends. But Sunday will be a chill day.

I didn’t know the first thanksgiving feast was in October.
I’ll still, however, celebrate on our appointed day anyway. My favorite part of Thanksgiving is spending time with my family. They’re lovely people and I hate that they’re so busy most of the time.

The three things I’m thankful for is my family. What I am going to do for thanksgiving is eat hangout with the family then maybe ride some dirt bikes and four-wheeler and maybe go kill a turkey to eat. But then at the end of the weekend might help put up some Christmas decorations.

I am thankful for everything that I have, I’m glad to know that I have loving and caring family and friends. You should always be thankful for what you have because someone in the world may not have anything. It’s good to be thankful for things, because you never know what could happen. For thanksgiving all of my family are going to my grandmother’s house to have dinner. I am going black Friday shopping with my mom, uncle and my two best friends, so my break should be very interesting. I also learned that the pilgrims came from England and landed on Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts and started thanksgiving in 1621 but it didn’t become a federal holiday until 1941.

I am thankful for my youth group whom I know I can always count on to be there for me no matter how many stupid ides or things I get myself into. Also I am very thankful for my family and friends that are going to be gathered around the Thanksgiving table this year, especially since I don’t get to see all of them very often in the year. I am looking forward to spending time with my cousins this weekend that I only get to see 4 times a year if I’m lucky. I am amazed at the differences between Thanksgiving then and now, like I had no idea that seafood was probably the main course at the first Thanksgiving whereas now we have the Turkey. Also we have excessive amounts of vegetables and desserts, and they most likely did not have any of that.

I am thankful that my sister is still alive she has been on edge with diabetic problems. I learned that turkey wasn’t what the pilgrims eat and it’s just a tradition created by people over the years. And on my weekend we will eat and I’ll go to my dads.

I celebrate thanksgiving to show the things that i am thankful for. 3 things i am thankful for is my family, friends, and to be able to see thanksgiving because some people don't live to see thanksgiving day. I learned that New York was the first state to have thanksgiving as a official state. This four day weekend is about to be great! Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m thankful for family, friends, and video games. Thanksgiving was a way to honor the pilgrims. My plans for weekend and thanksgiving are to go to North Carolina to see my granddad and the rest of my Moms family. Then I will try to bring home as much food as possible to eat for the weekend.

I knew Thanksgiving in part to show our thanks for everything that we have, but I didn't know it was a tribute to the pilgrims who came here from Europe. The first ever thanksgiving was in 1921 in Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts. I am thankful for all of my family, especially my brother.

I celebrate Thanksgiving to get together with my family. I will be spending time with my brothers who I haven't seen in over a year. I didn't know the name of the Native American tribe that helped the Pilgrims.

This week I am thankful for the fact that we have a four day weekend to sleep in as late as we can. Also, I am thankful for the fact that I will be able to see my uncle that I haven't seen in almost a year. This weekend I am going to sleep in a little late, eat with my crazy family, and try to go to the movies. It is very hard to believe that the first day of thanksgiving started way back in the 1620's. Since then it has been a yearly tradition to celebrate turkey day with loved ones.

The first Thanksgiving happened in 1620 when the Pilgrims and the Indians made peace and had a big feast together. Thanksgiving, in my opinion, is about what you are thankful for and how you do not just think about yourself all the time. Like me, I am thankful to have a great family. They love me and spend time with me. I am thankful to have a life, because if it wasn’t for god putting my mom and dad on earth and they would meet and fall in love, I wouldn’t be here right now. I am thankful to have a home and have a roof over my head. I am thankful for many things. I will go to my grandma’s house where she will cook, and my mom, dad, and I will bring some food over to her house. I might go to my other grandma’s house to eat. Possibly, go to Golden Coral. I will go to all my family and spend time with them. I am thankful that I will have a great Thanksgiving.

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving dates all the way back to the 1620's. There are many things that i am thankful for. One of them is W.H.S i am glad to have such great teachers here. Im thankful for family, friends, and my church family. Thursday i have family coming in to town to eat at my house. I already had Thanksgiving at my Grandaddy munk's and at church. I have had plenty to eat already. I dont really have plans for the rest of the extended weekend. But, something is bound to pop up, it always does.

One cool fact I learned from the article is that almost 90% of Thanksgiving meals include turkey! That's a lot of turkey, considering there isn't even any evidence that turkey was served in the first Thanksgiving. As for my weekend, I will be eating a lot and hanging out with family and friends. I might go to black Friday for the first time.

In my life I am thankful for my family, that I have a big family so we can all come together, and that we have food to cook on Thanksgiving. From the reading I learned that the pilgrims came over from England and landed on Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts in 1621. This week I’m planning on raking leaves and eating on thanksgiving and celebrate my birthday.

I'm thankful for a'lot of things to many things to list. But I'm thankful for my family my mom, dad, grandparents, and baby cousins, they have made me do so many things in life that I wouldn't have did if it wasn't for them. I love my family and one of the things I've learned from reading this is that pilgrims came and landed on Plymouth Rock in 1621. And my plans for this weekend is to just have fun with my family and eat some good food.

First being my new step-dad's family and second the new house I'm moving into. This thanksgiving I'll be at my step-aunt's house. This weekend we start moving.

I love Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a time were you get together and say what you are thankful for. I am thankful for a lot of things. The things I am most thankful for are my family, friends, and my school. I love the food at thanksgiving. A fact I didn't know about Thanksgiving is Thanksgiving took place in Plymouth Colony, in present-day Massachusetts, in 1621.

One fact that I learned was that it became a holiday in 1941. My plans for Thanksgiving involve going to my grandmas for dinner and when I get home I'll probably play video games. I'm thankful for this holiday being possible and that families get together, even those who hardly see each other like mine.

Finally its Thanksgiving, time to go home for the rest of the week. I’m most thankful that we can celebrate Thanksgiving. If it wasn’t for the pilgrims and the Indians that had the big feast, there would be no day like this. The day that we can all eat like we will not get fat, get time off from school, and the best of all is that we can spend time with family.

I am very thankful for my family for being so caring and always worrying about me. I am also thankful for all of my friends, and my pets. One fact I learned from this video is to always be thankful for the things you have not the things you don't have. After Thanksgiving I am going to my Grandmother's to spend time with my family.

Something’s that am thankful for is my family. I really love and enjoy spanned time with them. Plus one cool fact that I learned was in 1939, President Franklin Roosevelt declared that the Thanksgiving would be on the third Thursday in November. My plan for thanksgiving is me and my family going hunting. Then going home and having a big feast.

I am thankful for my family, if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be who I am today. I'm thankful for school, if it wasn't for school I wouldn't have an education. I'm thankful for God, if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be here today. The first Thanksgiving goes way back to 1620. The Thanksgiving holiday was celebrated during the Revolutionary War at least once. I planned on sitting at home enjoying time with my family.

Thanksgiving is one of the most exciting holidays of the year. Thanksgiving dates back to 1620 when a ship with 100 passengers came from England. In 1621 the settlers had a big feast. In 1939, Franklin D Roosevelt declared the 3rd Thursday in November as Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving didn't become a holiday until the 20th century. I am thankful for living, and for having family and friends. Thanksgiving is one of those days you, and your family members get together and enjoy every moment that all of ya'll cherish together. I love thanksgiving, only thing I don't like about it is turkey. I don't like or eat it, it's way to dry. Since it's a four day weekend my plans for the weekend is to either get rest or just hangout with some of my friends and go shopping on black Friday with my mom.

That was too cute! I’m thankful for my family and the best friends I have. My family is different but they are there for me more than anyone. My friends might be crazy but they are by my side 24/7. I didn't know that New York was the first state to make thanksgiving an official Holiday. I’m going to hangout with family friends than going to skydive or hunt.

I am very thankful for my family. My family may be big, but we make sure we are all together for thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving day I plan to help my mother, my sisters, and my many Aunts cook Thanksgiving dinner while the boys hunt and cook the turkey. Afterwards, we leave the house and start Black Friday shopping. Normally, that will last until Saturday or Sunday. I did not know that New York was the first state that made Thanksgiving a state-wide holiday.

After Thanksgiving is over my mom and I and other frinds of ours we are going to Black Friday shopping I am really excited for that.

From the reading, I learnt that the first Thanksgiving goes way back to 1620. That's a long time of family and friends coming together and eating, laughing, and making memories. I am thankful for so many things in life. One of the things I am thankful for, is my family. I don't not know what I would do without them, they have done so much for me and still do. Another thing I am thankful for is my friends and the people that are in my life daily. They always seem to cheer up a bad day and keep me laughing. I am so thankful for them as well. Third, I am thankful to be alive and breathing. So many lives are taken each and everyday, but i'm still here and i'm thankful and blessed to be here breathing and living. My plans for Thanksgiving and this extended weekend is to just spend time with my family and enjoy the meal and times we are having Thursday! Also, Black Friday is the next day and we have plans for that too. The rest I will just relax.
