Maybe you have heard the song "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas." Sung by 10 year old Gayla Peevey in 1953, this novelty song was a big hit that year. I thought the song was funny, really random but funny. I don’t know anyone that wants a hippo for Christmas but I guess this girl does. Personally myself I don’t want a hippo for Christmas but if the girl just wants a hippo I don’t see why not. I don’t think the parents will like the idea very much though.

I never heard this song before but I like it. I never thought a little girl at the age of ten would or could sing a song like that. That really makes my day and I’ve got one question; did she ever get that hippopotamus.

We have this song on a CD at my house because it's one of our favorites. I like the song because it's funny and different. I know I don't want a hippo for Christmas; I already have enough animals at my house!
This has to be the cutest song I've ever heard I was trying so hard not to laugh. I really don’t want a hippo for Christmas they may be cool but there dangerous. Over all the song is hilarious and very creative.

The song was hilarious, I remember my sister and a few of her friends singing that when it was near Christmas. I have heard it many times, it is quite the unusual gift to want, but hey, who am I to judge. I did smile a little, but I was holding in how much the girls face was, it creeped me out when she opened her eyes. That is just my opinion.
“I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” is a wonderful Christmas song, and when you hear it you just can’t help but smile and giggle a little too. I really do enjoy listening to this song at Christmas time; it is a classic to listen to with my grandparents while driving around looking at Christmas lights. It is a wonderful song, however, I don’t really want a Hippo.
I have heard it before and I really think that it is really funny. And but it just ridiculous to ask for a hippo. And I think that it was really surprising for a little girl to ask for something so big.

I think the idea of a novelty song is a joyful thing for children, but I don’t usually indulge in these types of songs. A hippo would be a large gift with a lot of paper work and care there. I would be grateful but I would end up giving it to a shelter because the care would be too much for an unemployed 16 year old.
This song is one of the more iconic Christmas songs. Even if it's older than most, it gets you into the holiday spirit just as well. It will always be a classic and will still be played on the radio for many more years to come.
I did smile a lot throughout the entire video, and it was funny. And I really enjoy listening to songs like this around Christmas because it puts you in the spirit. This song is weird but creative at the same time.
This was a very interesting video. I would never ask for a hippopotamus for Christmas. This song has a great beat and it made me a little happy.

I do not want a hippo for Christmas. That is one thing that is not in my wish list. I dont think anyone acually wants a Hppo axcept her. When I was that age all I wanted was dolls. This song was not that funny but, it was cute.
In my opinion the song was good. Although I didn’t enjoy the lyrics they were not as catchy as imagined. However the music was very good and I enjoyed it more than anything.

No I do not want a hippo for Christmas because that would be kind of awkward. The song is cool that a 10 year old did it but I don't think she got that hippo. A hippo would be a bizarre animal to have as a domestic pet but I can see where someone would want one.

I have only heard this song two times before. I think it was rated the worst Christmas song last year. I don’t think it’s that bad, but I would not download it. A hippo would be awesome to have if, especially if someone is getting on my nerves. All I have to do is get the hippo to attack the person.

When I heard the song I first thought it was a grown woman. I was really surprise when I saw the caption say it was only a 10 year old girl. The song was very wacky and silly. I loved it because it reminded me of when I was little.
