Car vs Train

Almost all the time the train wins in car vs train.  I don't think that anyone reading this will disagree with me when I say that trying to get across the tracks before the train does is dangerous and not very smart.  Unfortunately that is what happened to Untron Drew last week in Waverly.  Check out the story on Wavy 10.

Mr. Drew is quite fortunate to be able to survive the crash.

Now for your assignment, After watching the two videos and reading the news article tell us your thoughts.  Was Mr. Drew lucky?  Would you try to beat the train across the crossing?  Or, would you stop and let the train go through?

The man was very lucky to be alive as was he stupid for trying to go around the railroad crossing. The guy was drunk which is probably the reason why he tried to get around. He had no fear for the train and he thought he could make it, but I guess he thought wrong. No I would try and go around the train I’m sometimes stupid but they put giant beams in front of the train tracks for a reason even if I was drunk I would never try this.

Wow! That actually was very frightening to me, he was very lucky to survive that accident. I would never try to beat a train, because they go super fast and I wouldn’t be able to go through the track in time. I think he shouldn’t of drank if he knew he had to go through a railroad. I am very glad he survived, know he knows not to try and go through a railroad while a train is coming.

Mr. Drew was really lucky that he survived the accident. He may not think so because of all the charges he has, but he could have died. He is lucky to be alive. I would never try to beat a train. My grandfathers’ sister did that when she was young. Unfortunately she did not survive. Nothing is important enough to risk your life to be somewhere on time.

Mr. Drew is very lucky to be alive. However, it does upset me that he was drunk driving. He could’ve injured someone else or himself much worse. Nobody should ever drink and drive!! I would never try to play chicken with a train that is stupid. It only takes a minute for the train to pass anyways and it's worth the wait. A train is much bigger than a car, and the driver might not always make it like Mr. Drew.

In my honest opinion I think Mr. Drew is very lucky that he escaped with non life threatening injuries. To me trying to beat the train and cross the tracks is not worth the risk that comes with it. I would have just waited for the train to pass then cross. It could mean the difference between life or death whichever u choose.

Mr. Drew is lucky, most people don't live if they get hit with a car. He should have been following the laws, and maybe he wouldn't have lost a car either. I would not try to cross it and beat the train, that is insane. I would rather be safe than be in danger from getting hit by a train.

Mr. Drew is extremely blessed, that he is alive after his crash on Thursday, I guess one could call it a Christmas Miracle. However just because our friend Mr. Drew got out alive it does not mean it will always happen that way. I personally will never try to race a train, it is just not the brightest idea, because almost always the train will win.

Mr. Drew is in fact lucky he survived that train crash. I don’t think that he could have survived that crash. If that was me I don’t know if I would have made but I’m glad to see that he made it out ok. No family should have to go through what he has experienced.

To tell you the truth he deserved it. Only an idiot would drive around the gates. My dad used to work for Norfolk Southern and see this crap all the time these people think they are Dukes of Hazard but there not and its gonna get people killed. It was a miracle for drew to survive. I guess he wouldn't go around the gates again. The gates are there for a reason. Not so idiots can drive around them.

I don’t think this man was very smart. I really don’t think he thought his actions through before he acted on. If his car had broke he should have ran. If he was in rush then he still should have been smart enough to stop.

This was completely idiotic and had no point whatsoever why would you do something so stupid. It is completely ridiculous and dumb to be so stupid. Sorry if I seem repetitive but I’m wordless at this stupid story. This person in my opinion is a waste of life if he would try to give up his life so easily.

If that was me I would have stopped and waited. The man in this video must have either been a thrill seeker, really dumb, or trying to act like the train scene off of the Fast and the Furious. It was a bad decision for that man to make because he either waited for the train to get to where he was in order to go across, or he just wanted to try and end his life.

Drew was very lucky, I am suprised it did'nt kill him. There are many people wo die evrey year because of trains. They decide it would be a rush or fun to try to beat the train. What is the point when you are dead? Trains are very dangeous, you should not try to beat a train or get to close to one. It takes along time for a train tos top. If a train is going 55 MPH it will take it 1.5 miles to stop. Its crazy and most people to relize how serous trains can be. They will cause a lot of damage.

This man was dumb impatient. He's lucky he's still alive today. Some people just have no common sense.

I would never try and bet a train. Most people might make it and most don’t. Drew was lucky that he didn't get really hurt. I would stop and let the train go by.

This man is obviously impatient, and not very smart. There was alcohol involved though, so maybe that affected his decision-making. I would never try to beat a train across the tracks because I'm not an idiot, and I'm patient.

I really don't understand how anybody could make this seem logical, no matter how much he had been drinking. First he was drinking and driving then he didn't put on a seatbelt although that kinda figures him being drunk and all. Then he went and drove around the gates. How stupid can you get. It's a miracle that he lived.

Mr. Drew was lucky he didn't die, he could've injured many people driving drunk. When i'm with my brother, we never go if a train is near. It's not worth it to risk dying, or getting really hurt.

Rayquan Parker said...

This man should know better than to go around the gates and try and beat the train. God probably punished him for trying to do such a thing. He wanted him to learn from his mistake but not take his life. Now the first video was just plain out stupid because why in the world would you try and beat out a train if its that close to your car. I'm not gonna lie I always think about doing the things they do but after seeing what I've just saw there is no ways on god green earth I'm doing that even if the train Isn't that close because anything can happen and things can go bad very quickly. And I'm not risking my life to not wait for a stupid train. But, I hope the people that were in these accidents are okay and I'm going to be with there family. They need to just know next time not to pull out in front of a train. Better yet they need to take away there drivers license forever.

It seems that this man is crazy. When the police came and look at crime scene they most likely have thought that he was not smart when driving because he was drinking while driving, he did not have his seat belt on, and he should have never went across the train tracks when the train was in plain sight. Also, this man was not thinking because how would his family feel? If he was not lucky of survival, how would his wife tell their own children that their father has passed away? This man should be ashamed of himself. However, he was lucky.

Mr. Drew is a very lucky man. You shouldn't drive while you're drunk because things like this can happen. He could have really gotten hurt and lost his life. Even if the train is going slow enough to go across the railroad track, I wouldn't go across it. If his 2 kids were in the car with him that would've been even more sad because his kids could get killed also. Never drink and drive because drinking causes you to do some crazy things.

This man is just stupid ,and I hope he is okay because was brutal. I think the man should have waiting for the train to go by. You not going to win car vs train ,when the train going 80 mph

Mr. Drew was lucky to survive for sure. I would not try to beat the train because it is dangerous and can be fatal and who wants to lose their life for not having patience. It would be a better option to have patience and wait instead of risk your life just to get home.

I think that the guy was very dumb to try and beat this train. I would rather play it safe and wait for the train to pass then risk my life just to pass it. The guy was very lucky that he survived this accident.

I think the man is very lucky. Hopefully he will learn from his mistakes and not drive drunk again. Only if there was a good reason would I try and go across the railroad crossing.

Wow, it’s lucky that this guy is still alive. Trains vs. Cars hhhhmmm... I think trains win. Why is the train going 80 miles an hour anyway it’s only aloud to be going 45 max in residential areas. This is another lesson that shows that you should never drink and drive.

Anonymous said...

That is not smart at all. Why would anyone try to beat a train? How dumb can a person get to think like that. Obviously they really don't know how fast a train is to know that a car is not faster than a train.

He was very lucky to live from that collision. His brains could have splattered all over the place. I wouldn't have been driving intoxicated anyway. I would have been happily let that train go through. This experience should have taught a few lessons. Don't drive drunk and be very patient.

Drew was very lucky. He could have left 2 kids behind. I would race to beat the train. I've always wanted to race and beat a train but I may not be as lucky as Drew.

I think the guy shouldn't have been driving in the first place because he was drinking. He could have just waited 2 minutes for the trail to go by. He shouldn't have tried to beat the train. He could have died in this accident.

That man is very luckily. But he’s also stupid for trying to cross the tracks. Well if it’s one thing I have is never try to cross the train tracks when the shield are down.

This man was very lucky to survive such an accident. A train hitting your small car is a huge impact and most people would have died in that moment of impact. He is definitely lucky to still be alive after that, but he should have waited for the train to go past. I would have stopped and waited for the train to go by instead of trying to beat it, because there is too much risk in that.

Mr.Drew is very lucky to be alive. I would never try to beat a train across a railroad track. That idea is dangerous and really stupid. A train would always win.

The guy shouold have just waited for the train to go by and then went if there was no more trains coming. The guy must of been drunk if his car got hit by the train. The train will when every time against any vehicle unless you put a boulder infront of the train.

This guy should feel lucky to be alive after that train accident. Hopefully he made the decision because he was pretty drunk and he wasn't really stupid enough to try and beat the train. I would never try to beat a train across the tracks because I have put too much time and money into my truck to have it totaled.

Wow, Why would you ignore train warnings? Mr. Drew was very lucky that he didn't suffer from life threatening injuries, he is indeed lucky he didn't die. That couldn't be me, I would've stay right behind that bar. The train is gone win regardless, you never know how fast a train is going.
