Is That a Lion in my Backyard?

Maybe you have heard about Charles the lion dog.  Recently seen on the streets of Norfolk, the labradoodle, who was groomed to look like a lion, prompted several calls to 911 reporting a lion on the loose.  According to police, it is not the first that 3-year old Charles has prompted calls to 911.  Charles's owner says that he is shaved to resemble the ODU mascot.  Anyway, it seems that the crisis has been averted, at least for the time being.  Tell us what you think of this situation. Is the owner wrong to have Charles groomed to look like a lion.  Are the people who called 911 unjustly panicking?  Finally, if you could groom your pet to look like another animal, what would it be?

I think it's funny that the dog is shaved to look like lion. I don't think everyone was unjustly panicking they just thought there was a lion on the loose. They probably should have looked at it a little more closely though. I would probably groom a horse to look like a zebra.

The owner should be able to groom his dog to look like whatever he wants it to be. He groomed it to show his ODU spirit. I wouldn't have called the police if I saw the dog on the loose, I'd just take pictures of it. I wouldn't groom my pet to look like that. Although, the dog and it's owner are pretty famous now.

I think people were right to panic, it's lion. The owner has every right to groom his dog to look like whatever he wants, it's his dog. I'd groom my hedgehod to look like a porcupine.

I think that the owner of the dog just wanted to see if people would call 911. Some people were scared, I mean I would be scaried to if I saw a dog that looked like a lion in someones yard. People can have they dog look anyway that they can.

I think the dog look cool. The owner is very creative, I would never thought of that. If I had a Husky i would make it look like a Wolf.

I absolutely love this. That guy has about the coolest dog on the planet, and is not wrong at all for cutting his fur to look that way. As for people overreacting to it, ask yourself how you would react to a miniature lion speeding across your yard. I can't say I would style my cat like another animal; it might look a little weird.

I think that the cops shouldn't let this guy have a lion.I think they should keep it in the zoo because somebody could get hurt. I liked this video

I think it is really cool that he groomed his Lion. It would be a really good prank to pull on someone. I do think, however that you could get in trouble doing this often. People can overreact to a dog that looks like a lion on a leash.

The owner should be able to groom it however he wants. If I had an animal that you could groom and make it look like somethin else I would. I understand why people paniced

That dog do look like a lion. I probably would have accused that was a lion myself. I guess that dog fears alot of people.

I think that this is cool. I probaly do this just to get a laugh, and see what other people thought. Also i would let people know that this is not a real lion.

I think it's funny that he groomed his dog to look like a lion. It's actually pretty cool. The owner does have every right of what he wants his pet to look like. I would've defiantly freaked out if i would've seen it also, because it does look just like a lion.

My thoughts on dog shaved to look like a lion was very interesting. I sort of thought the people kind of overreacted a little, but I also believe that people should be able to shave their dogs anyway they want to. However, they should be aware that people would panick if they did not know if it was a dog or not. If it was possible to shave a dog to look like a fish, that is how I would want the dog to be groomed.

The dog is sweet. I like people that have enough spirit to go that far. I really dont think no one should get mad at the owner.

I think that it is wrong to groom the animal like a lion, it scares a lot of people. That isn't the wisest decision. If I groomed my cat to look like another animal it would look like a seal! :)

I think that the way the dog was shaved to look like a lion was very creative. If I had the choice to go to ODU I would to play basketball. Overall it was a very good video.

It's there dog so they can groom it how they want. But having it groomed like a lion can scare people if they don't know it's a dog. I wouldn't do that to my dog.

That is too funny! I think that is an awesome idea to shave your dog to look like other animals. I would be very curious if i saw this in the street!

I think overall, this story and video was pretty funny. I love how he groomed his dog to show his ODU spirit. It wasn't the smartest idea but I wouldn't of called the police.

I think the idea of shaving her dog like a Lion is really cool and creative. I thought it was really funny that all those people actually thought it was a real baby Lion.

I thought the video was cool. The dog was cool how it was shaved like a lion, but it wasn't a dog i would keep. It's cool how it is ODU dog/lion mascot.

I don't think the owner was wrong for getting her dog groomed like a lion. I also think it was good for the people to call the police because they were consurn. I think grooming the dog like that was pretty creative.

I thought it was awesome that she shaved her dog like a lion. She should of taught it to rawr and lay down like a lion so it would scare people even more.

I think the dog was cute. I would have been scared though. I don't think I would have called the police

I believe this is very cool and a very creative way to express the spirit for ODU by this fan. The 911 dialer, was very cautious about this animal and was obviously being aware of the danger of a lion. If I were to shave an animal, I would shave a gorilla just to see what it would look like.

I don’t think the owner was wrong for grooming their dog to look like a lion. They wanted to be creative with their pet to represent a towns College. The lady who called the police did the right thing by calling about the “lion”. I would have done the same thing because it really does look like a lion. I’m not sure on what I would groom my animal to look like if I had one, but I do want a monkey.

I think this is really funny! If I could have a dog shaved like any animal, I think it would be an elephant. The people who called the police were not unjustly paniced; if I saw what looked like a lion roaming the streets, I would call, too.

I think that it was an creative Idea. It would be funny to see the expression on peoples faces. ODU has some dedicated fans:)

I think this is very funny. People panicing, because the dog looked liked a lion. Honestly, I would had went crazy and moved to another state..

I think it is a little wrong to shave your dog like a lion because it may scare the be-jeebies out of some one. Although if some one saw a lion that was the size of a labrodoodle walking down the street, and they thought it was real might have over reaccted. It would have been to small to be a lion but yet not many people are used to seeing a dog shaved like a lion. But if I had a pet that I would groom to look like another animal I would make my ginnea pig look like a zebra.

I think it's pretty cool, that he got his dog to get shaved like that. Owners should be able to be creative with their animals however they want. I would groom my dog to look like a zebra.

I think this is absolutely hilarious. If i could groom my pet to look like an animal it would probably be a baby gorilla. Only because it would be funny to walk an animal that looks like a zoo animal.

I think that this is cute. I would probally do the same thing. I think that the 911 calls were fine, but the people should of really looked at the animal before freaking. I don't know what I would shave my dog as.
