Tan Mom

Maybe you have heard about Patricia Krentcil, referred to as "Tan Mom."  You probably agree that this is crazy and in many ways  a ridiculous news story.  Read the hyperlinked article.  Look at the video on this site or the one in the news article.  Now that you are familiar with the story, do you believe that she should have been charged with child endangerment?  Should the state get involved in the decisions of a mom to take her child into a tanning booth?  Is the mom a bad parent?

I don't necessarily think that she should have gotten charged with child endangerment. That's just me, though. I also don't think the state should get involved, I don't think the 5-year-old actually went tanning in the tanning booth like people say she did. Also, I think the mom is in the middle of a bad parent and good parent.

I think that this lady should be charged with child endangerment. Even if she didn't take her child into the "tanning bed," she still left her child alone without her in a taning place. I think the state should get involved and I do think she is a bad mom because she is setting a bad example for her daughter and others.

This mom should have to stay in jail and serve her time. If she knows it’s against the law then why is she going to do it any way? Since she got a rash and sunburn, then yes the state should get involved. She is not a bad parent for just making one mistake, but if she keeps on then yes.

I believe that Patricia should be charged with child endangerment. Because UV lights are just like the sun it could cause skin cancer and terrible sunburn if you stay out too long. In my opinion she should get her kids taken from her.

I think that it was a bad choice on the mom's part. You shouldn't take your child into a tanning booth. The kid should definatly be taken away from the mom.

The Mom Is innocent until proven guilty. If I was in her shoes I would tell them to prove that I put my little girl in a tanning salon. If they can prove it, then yes she should be charged.

If she's a bad mom really depends on if she let her daughter tan. Besides that I think she's a bad example for her little daughter, who doesn't understand the dangers of tanning.

I think this lady should be charged with child endangerment. There is no reason at all should you put a five year old in a tanning bed or take her any where close to a tanning bed. She deserves to go to Prison.

I don't know what the mom was thinking of taking a five year old in a tanning booth. She should have to stay in jail or should have her child taking out of her custody. But maybe she is telling the truth about not having her in there. The judge will make the final decision.

I think she should be charged. Nobody should put there 5-year old in the tanning bed. I really dought she went tanning.

I think that the "Tan Mom" should be charged with child endangment. That is very unhealthy for a child that young to go in a tanning bed. She is a bad parent because she is setting off the wrong judgment for her child and others.

As everyone see, the mother has an obsession with tanning. People shouldn't be so surprised that she's trying to get her daughter into it. It was bad on the mother's part, she shouldn't have done that.

I believe the mom was wrong to take the child into the tanning salon with her. This is because it encourages her daughter that it's okay to tan, but in reality, it's harmful. The girl could have gotten burnt outside over the weekend, or in the tanning bed, but there is no way to tell.

You will never know the true story, because often times little children lie. But, in my opinion I would never take my child into a tanning salon there are too many chances of a child getting hurt. However, if she is proven guilty she should be charged and the state should get involved.

She admitted to taking the child into the salon, but the five-year old stayed in the lobby, according to the owner of the salon, and the mother. Our Law say's "Innocent untill proven guilty." They need to find proof and use that, because as they said the sunburn was noticed after they just had 90 degree weather; garddening, of course the child will get a little burnt being in the sun.

It was right for her to be charged with child endangerment. she might not have taken her tanning but she left her alone while she went tanning. Everybody makes mistakes but I hope she learned her lesson.

I think the mom should be charged with child endangerment. Because she knew it was against the law to let her child go tanning. The child should not be able to stay with her mom anymore.

I think that it is stupid. Fake baking is dumb anyway. I have a tanning bed at my house and I do not use it. Girls skin gets leathery and nasty. It is child endangerment and she should be punished. Why would you want your child to be as orange as you? Tan mom is a crazy mom if you ask me.

I think this women should be charged with child endangerment. One because she is not setting a good example for her daughter. Also she should be charged for leaving the child alone by herself while the mother was tanning.

I think that the lady is innocent. Just because she like to tan do not mean that she will let her 5 year old daughter tan. She shouldn't have her child taken because of that.

Woah. That woman has got some issues. She might not of took the child into the tanning booth, but she is still setting a horrible example for daughter. Going to the tanning bed is stupid anyways. Especially when you look like a orangutan.

I think that everyone is blowing this situation way out of proportion. There is no proof that the girl was ever in the tanning bed. It was a hot sunny day and the child didn't have on sun lotion, it happens. Yes I think this woman is ignorant for tanning that much because it is extremely dangerous but that is her choice. I do not think that she should be charged with child endangerment. Another thing about the woman is that she shouldn't have gone on to say that everyone that is talking about her is jealous, fat, and ugly but I suppose we all say stupid things when we are angry.

I do believe that someone who has obviously tanned as much as her mother should kno the dangers, and would not let a five year old do it. She does have a reasonable argument by saying it was a hot weekend and they were outside. The state should not be involved in this it was completely the mothers problem, and since the tanning salon didnt even notice it must mean that she either didn't go in or they didn't pay enough attention and should be in trouble for letting this happen if it did.
