Oops

Oh no.  It seems that the University of Texas at Austin forgot one letter on the program for its' recent commencement ceremony.  Do you see the omission on the the picture above?  The link will take you to a news story on the typo. After reading the story, how do you feel about this error?  Is it being overblown or are spelling errors acceptable?  Would you have been offended/upset if you were graduating from this school and received this program?  I hope you will see why I am so big on proofreading!

If I were graduating I might have been a little upset that there was a spelling error on the program. Some people might not care because it's one mistake, but when you go back and read it, you don't want there to be any errors. I mean it's not a huge error so it wouldn't be anything to cry over or something like that.

Wow, that’s crazy. I would not want to go to that school. I wonder what all the English teachers say? Spelling errors are not acceptable. I would be embarrassed if I would have been the one to make it. I would be really upset if I was graduating from here because it makes the college look bad.

I think that this is pretty funny. It isn't acceptable and I know if I was graduating I would be pretty upset. Why I would be upset is because its something that you only do once and that is graduate from college.

I really don’t think it is that big of a deal. People make mistakes all the time nobody is perfect. To answer the question NO I don’t think I would be embarrassed, but I would apologize.

I think the whole thing has been overblown. Everyone is going to make mistakes. I do not believe I would be embarrassed. Its just a mistake just like everyone makes.

I don't think that it is acceptable, but it is funny. Someone should have caught it before it was published. I hope the publisher will apologize for his mistake.

I don't think its that big of a deal. Just fix it and move on. No, I would not be embarrassed, people make mistakes all the time. I'm sure they did not do this on purpose.

It really isn't that big of a deal. If you want to know the truth of the matter everyone is going to make mistakes. In my opinion, everyone thats blowing it out of proportion are just plain immature.

It is not really embarrassing everyone makes mistakes it is not like he or she meant to do it. What I would do is apologize to the people who took offense to it. Then just correct on my mistake and fix it.

I really don't think it's that big of a deal. We all make mistakes. Yes it might be a little embarassing but I honestly wouldn't have noticed it. I would've laughed and said "That's cool." I wouldn't care if it was missing an "l".

All I can say is this is kind of funny, and the title of the blog makes it funnier ("Oops"). To me a mistake like this is unacceptable! If I were graduating from this school I would be mad, it's too unprofessional.

If I were graduating I might have been upset about having a spelling error. But everyone makes mistakes so I wouldn't be embarrassed about it. On the other hand I would have apologized for it.

I think I would be a little upset because, colleges are not suppose to spell things wrong. I also think that it would be something I would remember only because its funny. You cant spell something wrong, there is spell work on the word documents.

Seriously I wouldn't be mad at all. Everyone makes mistakes sometime in life. It's really not a big deal. Really it's kinda funny.

In my opinion it's an overreaction. It doesn't matter how hard we are try, we aren't perfect and we all make mistakes.

At a first glance for me, the program is hilarious to read. Then I put myself in the position of the students, they worked so hard for their graduation, to be laughed at? No they were humiliated because of a simple mistake done by many, yet this mistake was wasn’t caught, therefore, proofreading is very crucial to all readers and writers.

Everybody makes mistakes while typing. Nobody in the world is perfect. But to answer the question no I don't think I would be embarrassed.

I believe that this has not been blown up at all. How you spell words especially in something as proffesional as a program shows a lot about the character of a person and a school. I would be so offended that words cannot even describe my emotions.
