Kiss Cam Antics

You are probably familiar with the "kiss cam".  The ubiquitous camera that seems to turn up during time outs at sporting events.  If you see yourself on the camera you kiss out the person you came to the event with.  Most people are cooperative and good natured about it, even if a little shy.  And every now and then the camera locks on a couple of members of the opposing team sitting on their sideline.  Most athletes laugh, smile or clown a little bit.  Maybe you have heard about Chris Wilcox of the Boston Celtics basketball team and his reaction to being on a kiss cam in Philadelphia the other night.  Here is the link to the news story about his little "indiscretion".

Was his reaction justified?  Was the fine of $25, 000 appropriate?  Should he apologize to the fans in Philadelphia?  Was it proper for the camera to seek him out?  Should we have a kiss cam at Windsor High sporting events?  Lots of points for discussion out there.

He had every right to do that. It was not right he was lossing and they tryed to make him look gay. They should not have fined him.

I don't think the guy should have been sewed for what he did. It's just that people over exagerate. They don't need to go that far with it

I think he should just pay the money and apologize to the public for his mistake. Everyone will forget about this incident eventually. I still don't think the cameramen were right to put him on the spot. He could have simply ignored the camera. I don't think we should have a kiss cam at our sporting events because they're aren't enough people who show up to them.

I don't believe his actions were worth $25,000 dollars. He shouldn't have acted as immaturely as he did when the kiss cam jokingly displayed him. I believe it was pompous and irresponsible of him to do that.

His action was not justified. The fine really was not not good because he can do what he wants to do with his finger. If he does not want to be on camera he has every right to flip off the the kiss cam.

I do not think he should be sued. They were loosing, and he was already mad. However, He can atleast apologize. I do not think we should have a kiss cam at the high school.

That was a very unnecessary fine by him. It was a joke to get the crowd going, and he gets all upset about it. His actions were NOT justified and should not be allowed to fine for something like that.

I thought it was pretty funny. I don't think a $25,000 fine was necessary, however, he is a professional and should be fined. Just not $25,000. A kiss cam at a high school is out of the question. High Schools don't like PDA, and certainly wouldn't encourage it.

I think he did the right thing. The camera people shouldn't just watch old people kiss. He shouldn't pay any money.

Although what he did was wrong, I don't think he should be fined $25,000. It was just a joke to get the crowd going. I think he should at least apologize to the fans. A kiss cam here at the high school would be a bad idea in my opinion.

$25,000 is a very pricey fine for his actions, but that doesn't mean he should've reacted immaturely to a joke. He had no right to flip off the camera. There is no way there could be a Kiss Cam at any high school. It would cause so many problems worse that even this.

Heath said...

He had a chose to kiss or not. Now one at the school not a good idea. It would be embarresing to be on that thing with some one at random.

I don't think he should be fined. It was just a joke. I don't think there should be a kiss cam at the high school either.

I think that was very wrong. Instead of fining him they should have just fired him. In front of all them people and kids.

25K is alot of money to be fined. He deserved it though. You shouldnt flip off a crowd. If this was high school it would have been a big problem.

I think he overreacted. It is not that big of a deal. He could have just shook his head no. It is just for fun and games, he is taking it too seriously.

It wasn't right to put him on the spot like that. In that case he doesn't need to apologize. It wasn't even worth $25,00

I think he took it way too far flicking the camera off. $25,000 is a little much for what he did but maybe it will help him learn a lesson in life. If we had a kissing cam at Windsor's sporting events it would be the funniest thing we have had here in a while.

I think that they should not have fined him. He had every right to do that in my opinion. But the descision was made to fine him so he should just pay it & move on with his life.

Yeah, he took it too far. i think what he did was relly unappropiate and disrespectful. He just created a scandal. But if Windsor High School had a kissing cam it would really be funny.. :]

I think he took it to far. It's a kiss cam just have fun. You don't have to kiss anyone. Just have fun amd joke around. That really wasn't needed

I think giving the middle finger to the camera was a litle to much. There's no need for that, the kiss cam is only for fun. Now fining him was a good thing because what he did was disrespectful and rude.

Allison said...

I don't think that they should of put the camera on him, knowing he was upset about losing. It was also not right that he flicked the camera off, but he was upset and probably wasn't thinking. I don't know how having a kiss cam at WHS would work, it would be interesting to see everyones reaction tho.

25K for flipping off a camera is a pretty penny. There was no reason though to flip the camera off. they were just trying to be humorous. I don't think he should have been fine 25,000 though.

Kelsey said...

I think he shouldn't have been fined that much. $25,000 for flipping the camera off is not worth it. It was just a joke and he got fined for it

I don’t think his actions are worth $25,000. He shouldn’t have done what he did though, he knew there would be consequences for his actions and now he has to “pay the price” literally. There is no need for a kiss cam at our schools events because one it’s a school event and two the school is too small for that.

The $25,000 fine was very appropriate considering he is a professional basketball player being payed a very good amount of money. Everyone makes mistakes but this mistake was very preventable. Honestly, giving "the bird" as a response was completely an over reaction. Most opposing teams are targeted on a kiss cam to get a few laughs or smiles. He took the joke to an extreme level and made it very unfair or fun to the fans. I believe he should definately appoligize to the fans in Philidelphia just as any other team/teamate would do in this situation or any other situation(s). Even though it was a bad decision, he can definately fix the problem and hopefully he will do so.

His reaction was completely inappropriate and immature. As a person who is regularly in the spot light, he should be used to having cameras on him, and he should know the appropriate way to react. There are probably tons of young kids who look up to this man as a role model; he set a terrible example for them. The fine was appropriate; he should make an apology not only to the Philadelphia fans, but to everyone. We should not have a kiss cam at Windsor! Inappropriate things like what Chris Wilcox did would happen continuously.

I think he should not have been fined that much. $25,000 for extending his middle finger in my opinion he shouldn't had been fined at all. I mean did he hurt anyonhe, was anybody bleeding, NO! I think the people who point the "Kiss Cam" should be fined, you shouldn't be forced to kiss because a camera is pointed towards you.

Armonie said...

I Think it was inapropriate and disrespectful for him to give him the finger, it was a little much. I also understand, he wanted his privacy and not flash to world. I think it would of been a better way to approach that sisuation.

Erica McKay said...

I think that he could have just ignored it to be honest but I bet it was funny. $25,000 is a bit much don't you think? If we had a Kiss Cam here I would like it but every teacher gets mad when you kiss in the hall so what would the teachers do if we are on a Kiss Cam.

kevante said...

I think he took to far. He is an role model for so many people. That was bad for his career.

Miranda said...

I think it was very inapropriate and very disrespectful for him to give the finger. I don't think Windsor should have a kiss cam that would cause alot of problems. I also think that his fine was to much for just the middle finger.

I truthfully think he did the right thing for a millionare like himself. I myself probably would have done that if I had to kiss a guy. I would'nt be surprised if somebody got "jumped" within the next week.

I think he was a little wrong, for putting his middle finger up at the camera. Does he not know that people look up to him. I don't think he was even thinking at the time. But people do want to have their privacy, and not to be forced to do things they don't wanna do.
