iPads

iPads are here.  By now, most, if not all of you should have your iPad. What do you think of them?  Are you excited to be getting one?  Have you been using it at home and in other classes?

Here is your first iPad assignment.  Download two apps to use for this class.  The first is any dictionary app.  I like the Merriam Webster dictionary, and it is free.  You will also need to download a "This Day in History" app.

In this class, when your iPad is not being used for class activities, you will need to have it out, not turned on and placed down on your desk.  Remember that IWCS expects you to have your iPad every day and to bring it school fully charged.      I imagine that over the next few months, you will have a lot of opportunities to use your iPad in school.  Take advantage of them.

Now for your posting assignment.  What do you think of the iPads?  Will they benefit you in class?  Do you see any potential problems with using them?  Let us know your thoughts on them.  I expect everybody to post and that your post will be proofread.  Remember that participating in this blog is not optional.

Personally i think the iPads were a waste of money, kids are more than likely just going to play games on them. Teachers may assign a few things on the iPads but some teachers have no interest in them. Buying a laptop for each student would have been more effective, they're easier to type, send emails, and such on.

I think the iPads serve as an excellent learning tool rather than the traditional, out-dated textbooks. There are apps we can download to help us learn further information on certain subjects, study, and have fun at the same time. I hope everyone makes wise decisions because some other schools don't have this opportunity.

I think the ipads are a good and bad idea. first I think there a good idea because it gives students a chance to learn in a fun and creative way. The other reason why I think there bad, is because most kids will just use them to play games and not pay attention. I dont really care for the Ipad because I used to have one, but I am a little excited. I plan to use it at home and at school.

There are many pros and cons to the iPads. I think they are a good idea and will benefit the students to make doing your work easier and more efficient. At the same time, they can easily become a distraction to many students.

I don't have mine for school quite yet, but I do have one at home so I am familiar with them. It is a good idea in that it reduces the need for textbooks and is a technological advance. However, the downside is that for every individual student to have one gives responsibility to that person, and not everyone takes that seriously and it could result in a broken Ipad.

The ipads that we got, I think, will help us a lot in school. I’ve already used them in Latin and it’s like always having a computer by your side. This will open new opportunities for school and the only somewhat downside is we will not really use them in math. The ipads are a great addition and I hope we use them all the time.

I think that the ipads are I good idea. But the problem with it is that if people use the ipads to much, then they will not want to put them down to do class work. But, they are a good idea to have in the class to use.

Ipads was the greatest ideas in school. We can look up infomation for our school work. The good thing is we can have fun with it.

I think the Ipad is a acceptable tool for school. I think so because we can do class projects while saving paper. But it is also a student distraction because they can play games.

I think that getting ipads was a great idea. They will give us the opportunity to learn in a more creative way. The ipads are a much better source to use rather then our out of date textbooks. I just hope that everyone handles them responsibly. (:

Honestly I believe that the iPads are not useful but I am excited for them. They are fun to play with but barely anyone in my class's use it for educational use. Most of my friends and students play, text or listen to music on them during class, they don't use it for a good purpose. It is techniclaly a toy for everyone to have.

The iPads yes, are very fun, entertaining, etc., but i believe that the school could have used the money to afford new upgraded programs for the already used computers. The computers are so much easier to type with, connect to the internet better, and cannot be broken/stolen easier. The iPads are great for the students playing games but are they really necessary without the textbook applications?

I think the I-pads were a good idea and I like them. To me it’s going to take awhile for the use of the I-pads as an educational tool to be affective. Many of my teachers are trying to use them as an educational tool but you’re always going to have those few people who wonder off doing their own little thing. To me until we have text box and other things available for the I-pads they would mainly get used for a play toy for many.

I think the ipads will help us out a lot with our work, i think they help us finish our work faster. They also serve as a reward for when the kids finish

I like the I-pads. Their both bad and good, because kids pay more attention to them than work. But also fun.

I like having Ipads in school. I think it will help students learn more. For me personaly I write some of my notes on it so if I leave me notes I will have them on my ipad. The only problems with having the ipads is that some people will act like they are doing what they are told but instead they are playing games and messaging friends.

I think that the iPads are great, in theory. However, there are many potential problems with them, such as: if it gets lost or stolen, if it is broken, or if a student comes with it uncharged. They will benefit students if they are used properly; if not, they will distract them and hinder their learning.

I think the iPads are good tools as long as everyone uses them as tools. The only problem is peple are going to play on them.

I think the ipad is worth time and money to buy, for the students of WHS.While expanding our thought processes while learning. We also get to have many opportunities with them ,and etc. However I agree to disagree with what Evan had said about, the ipads. It is a true statement that he had stated, but I think he should have thougth a little bit differently. For an example, not many schools have the opportunity to use a different learning tool, or they just don't have the budget too, etc. But the overall outcome to my decision is that it was worth every penny.
