Well Vereran's Day is a day to remember all our soliders who fought in wars. We honor all veterans today. We also honor all of those who helped serve our country. And 81 years ago we started this. But in the 1970's the President changed the holiday to the 4th Monday in October, but then in 1975 President Ford Changed it back to the 11th.

Veterans Day is a annual American holiday honoring veterans. It is on November 11th. If Veterans Day falls on a Sunday, then Monday is designated for holiday leave. Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed an Armistice Day for November 11th, 1919. It is also celebrated as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day.

Those videos were very touching. Veterans Day has been changed and modified over the years by different presidents. But it was changed back to its original date. Watching those videos and listening to the veterans makes me have a different perspective on how they have helped our country. It makes me have more respect and understanding for them.

Thank You
Eric

Hello Mr. Downing, how are you? I think the video was good. Veteran's day is important to everyone. It's important to remember those who fought for us. A lot of people lost their lives, you can’t forget about them. There are people still fighting for us now. The veteran's that are still alive should be honored in the respect that they deserve

World War I ended on June 28, 1919, with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. Which went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918. The name was changed to Vet-erans Day to honor all U.S. veterans. National ceremonies for Veterans Day center around the Tomb of the Unknowns. Its important to remember all the veterans who gave their lives and served our country.

I thought that the videos explained a lot about Veterans day. Veterans day is very important to us all. We should remember "Veterans Day" for lots of different reasons. We should keep in my mind when doing moment of silence that they fought for us. Veterans that are alive should be honored by what they did for us, for our country, and we are still standing tall no matter what happens.

The actual fighting between the Allies and Germany ended 7 months earlier with the armistices. It went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918. November 11 officially became a holiday in the United States in 1926. It became a national holiday 12 years later. On June 1, 1954, the name was changed to Veterans Day to honor all of U.S veterans. In 1916 the date was changed, It was apparent that November 11 was a date of historic significance to many Americans. In 1978 Congress returned the observance to its traditional date.

Veteran's Day is a day to remember those who fought in wars or are fighting in wars fot the United States. It is also for those who went into the war and lost their lives for us. It is important because it is for those who went inot the war and made it out alive. Also because they risk their lives for their country. On June 1, 1954, the name was changed to what we know now as Veteran's Day.

I think the videos were very good to let us know a little more about Veterans day. Veterans day is very important! I think it is important because we are recognizing our soldiers who supported our nation. We are also supporting the soldiers who gave up their lives for our country. It is important to many people because they had family members or friends that were veterans. On November 11th at 11:00 started what we now know is Veterans day.

Veteran's Day 91 years ago used to be called Armistice Day. Armistice Day was a holiday to reconize the armistice signed betwen France and Germany to end the fighting between the Allies and Germany in World War 1. The war ended in June 26 1919, with the signig of the Treaty of Versailles but like I said before the armistice ended the fighting. The Veteran's Day national ceremonies are usually held at the Tomb of the Unknowns. At the ceremony the President places a presidential wreath near the tomb.

If Veteran’s day is so important why did we have to come to school? People that go into war is very brave because they are risking their lives for America. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month at 5 a.m. back in 1918. The first world war had nine million soldiers died and 21 of them was left wounded. Veterans that came home should be very happy that they are alive.

Veteran's Day came from WW1. On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month the war was finally over. I think it is special because if it weren't for the veterans who gave their lives, we most likely wouldn't be here now. I am happy for everything they have done. Happy Veteran's Day!

They have done so much for us, with out them the other country probably would have took over by now. Veterans go out of their way to save us. The risk their life for ours. I would seriously think all the Veterans for their hard work. If you see one today congrats them for their hard work.

Veterans Day is a great way to honor our veterans. I am very thankful for what people have done to make our country so great. I learned three things about the history of veterans. First I learned that Woodrow Wilson created this day to honor our veterans. It was first called Armistice day. The second thing I learned is that there is a place called Flanders field where some veterans are buried and there are Poppies there to honor them. Last I learned that Eisenhower changed the name of Armistice Day to Veterans Day.

Veteran's Day is observed in memory of those who serve our country in the military. I have the utmost respect for these men and women. I will be joining the armed forces. I know that I may die, but as long as it is for my country, my life has not been wasted. There are 307 million people in this country that I don't know, and yet I will rise up and lay down my life for them. Veterans are heros beyond words.

Veteran's day is a very important holiday to celebrate. Every person who has ever served in our nation's armed forces deserves to be honored and commemerated. Not just on veteran's day but, on every day. What America's service men and women do every day is spectacular. For someone to lay there life on the line for people they have never met is outstanding.

Veteran's Day is based on when the armastice took effect during the great war. The great war was also known as WW1. On November 11th, 1919, an armastice was signed for peace. Over time the U.S. gradually changed the holiday to include all war veterans.

Veteran's Day is celebrated on November 11. Veteran's Day has changed over the years. It has been called many different names and honored several different things. Today it honors the veterans that have fought for our country and the soldiers that are serving today. My step dad is a veteran and I think it is very important that we take time and stop and remember all who have served our country.

Veterens Day is the one holiday that really means something to everyone. If they would not havew protected us we would not have freedom. Veterens Day is the holiday that means the most to me because I watn to go into the Army and help serve. If I do not get into the Army I will still be greatful for all the men and women that served the country and gave their lives.

Veterans Day is a day when all soldiers are honored. It was known before Veterans Day as Armistice Day. The video showed us a lot about this day. The soldiers that was talking in the video let us know it’s not easy trying to save this country, and I think this day is a great way to honor them. I’m glad that there are people out there that care for our country so much to be brave and fight for it. I think them a lot!

In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day. After the Second World War, Congress changed the name to "Veterans" Day. Basically, Veterans day is a day to remember all the armed forces that have served throughout history (for the US anyways). I had wanted to come to school but was very sick to day Mr Downing.
