Today is Earth Day. Since the first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970 many people have taken time out to consider how their actions impact the planet on which we live. You may have noticed that Earth Day has been in the news quite a bit this week.
So, how do you "celebrate" Earth Day? Do you try to take care of the earth every day of the year, or only on this day or not at all?
Here is a thought. We can all make a positive impact on the environment if we do just one simple thing. For example, turn off the lights when you are not in the room. Turn off the water when you are brushing your teeth and turn it on when you rinse the toothbrush. Or, recycle your papers. Too often, I notice students throwing papers in the trash instead of using the recycle bags in the classroom.
Please tell the group that one thing you do to help the environment. If we all try to do just one thing it will make a big difference. My thing is to recycle paper! What is yours?

Personally, I don’t take too much interest in Earth Day. Although, I do try to conserve energy by keeping the lights off. Sometimes the light is even off when I’m in it. I guess it’s just because I enjoy being in the dark, but it saves energy either way. =]
I don't do anything for earth day! I honestly don't care about "helping the earth"! It's not my thing!
One thing i can't stand is when people litter. It drives me insane when i see people throwing their trash on the ground. Everyone should keep the our enviroment clean all the time not just on this day.
Not to disapoint anyone, but honestly, I don't celebrate this day, I mean I do little things like turn off the lights when I am not in a room and turn the water off when I brush my teeth, but other than that, I don't really do much, I know I should, but not a lot of people probably even know about this day, and one person can't save the enviorment alone.
My thing is to turn water off when not using it and I barely use any lights in the house. I barely spend any time in the house, I’m a nature person not an electrical person.
I personaly don't do anything special for Earth Day. I turn off lights and water on a daily basis. Nothing special about that, so I don't know anything I could do for Earth Day.
Well, I really don't do anything for Earth Day. It's just another day to me. Now that I think about it, I really don't do anything to help like recycling. I go to the nearest can, whether it be a recycle bin, a trash can, or a teacher's desk drawer. :P
I love Earth Day, but instead of me just doing something for the earth once a year is not for me. You see I love to plant flowers or just about anything.To me if people save by recycling then that would be ok.
Earth day is something I do not care about but it doesn't mean i don't care about our planet. I just usually recycle bottles and turn off a light in a room if i am not using it.
I'm not much of an environmentalist, but I try to take care of earth by not littering. I won't go as far as to say I pick up other people's trash and things, but I'll prevent it by not doing it myself. My family also recycles plastic bottles and cans instead of throwing them away. I don't do anything special for earth day; I just continue to do my part.
I don't celebrate Earth Day since it is an irrelevent holiday due to the fact that if you are going to help the earth you should do it every day not just one day. I do recycle tin and aluminum cans to help the earth but that is all.
I really don’t do anything for Earth Day, I never really have, I mean if your asking do I cut the lights out while I'm not in the room, yeah I try to do it sometimes and I cut the water off when I'm not brushing my teeth, I do things for the earth I just never really noticed I am doing it.
Well, I celebrate E. Day by wearing blue and/or green. Like today! And yeah but just to be honest nobody cares about the Earth, all people about it making money, getting out of school, driving, and other material things. But, even when we're told about how we are making it worse to live on Earth, people still don't care or just wouldn't the time.

I dont really celebrate Earth Day. Not that I think It is stupid, but I think that we should try to recycle everyday. All of the ideas that Mr. D. typed up were good ones. Small stuff like turning off lights when you're not in the room, or cleaning out your bookbag and throwing out old papers. Little stuff like that goes a long way.
If you are turning off the lights and water when you are not using them, it does have a positive impact on our planet. Not only that, but it also saves money! Think about that!
I think more people could turn off lights and water more to save energy. It is very crucial for us to do our best to protect the Earth. We have to protect our planet and be more aware of what we're doing when and if we litter. We do not want to have a repeat of the damage that occurred in the Industrial Revolution. We may also need to be more aware of what other countries do to their environment. America may be trying to help the environment in ways but if other countries aren't protecting the environment our efforts may only help so much.
