Over the past years, I've seen many strange pets inside households. Everything from mice to lizards are being treated more and more like domestic animals. I remember when the only animals inside a house was either a cat or a dog. Why are people becoming so interested in exotic animals? Would you rather have an exotic animal or domestic animal? Do you think it is right to own an exotic animal? What do you think influences the thoughts of owning an exotic animal?

I would not have any animal in my house. I already had a cat she died I had a fish I didnt feed her and she died. Animals are just not for me.

no i do not belive it is right to own a exotic animal due to the fact that the wild is their home and you upset nature when you take an exotic animal out of the wild where the creator intended for it to be.
I would rather have a exotic pet because i want a monkey. I would also want a tiger because they would kill anyone who tried breaking in. But I would probably have a dog.
i don't think people should own any exotic animal. exotic bird are fine because u can clip there wings and feed them right. other than that they belong in the wild.
I would like to have an exotic animal. Yet I feel it's wrong to take the animal from it's natural habitat. I do own four domesticated cats and I love them, I would'nt leave them for anything. If I did own an exotic pet it would be a wolf or fox.
I think its just fine to have exotic pets, I have exotic pets I have a monitor Lizard, a leoperd Gecko, and a chinese water dragon. I think of my lizards as normal not exotic, many people tink it is normal to have these animals as pets. To some people a tiger might be considered a house cat. To some people a shark is a normal pet.

I believe that you shouldn't have exotic animals in your house. One reason is because they don't belong in a home. Also because they are DANGEROUS!!!!
I would love to own an exotic animal. In my own opinion as long as the animal is not being mistreated and the animal is properly kept I see no problem in it. People are so strongly against the idea because of the few "bad apples" that ruin the fun for the rest of us.
I think that owning and taking care of an exotic animal should not be a concern to people. As long as it is properly tended to. I used to own a pet tarantula for a short amount of time, which is considered an exotic pet to many individuals, and I did not have a problem with it.

I do not think exotic animals should be allowed in households because they are really dangerous. Also they have a place just for them. I wouldn't even want a domesticated animal in my house either, just because i am scared of them.
Well since my blog was deleted for unknown reasons I will restate my point. Exotic animals rock, except for "AntEaters." I would personally openly let an animal come live in my home if it does as i say and when i say it. O and Rhinos rock the most!
I believe that it is just dangerous to have an animal that is meant to be in the wild in a residential setting. It just has to many areas that could become a serious situation in to many ways. This is why I believe that animals that are wild should stay in the wild. This is my opinion and even though this is how many people feel there will always be several people that will just break the rules and risk there's and others lives having potentially dangerous animals in there household.
I think owning exotic animals in your home is risky because, they still have the wild in them. The animals could change and be very dangerous at anytime. I also do not understand why people want exotic over domestic animals.

I would love to have an exotic animal in my house. I always like to be the person who sticks out in a situation. So while people will be having cats in their house, I'll be having tigers.
I mean exotic animals would be nice to have if they don't attack you. But I would keep it simple and just own a cat or dog. Having an exotic animal would be to much to handle. In plus, if it gets loose those exotic animals are not going to the pound like cats and dogs.
I love animals I think people should be able to have an animal they want. If I could choose I would want a panda, penguin or a kola. I don’t think it matters what kind of animal you have as long it is professionally trained or you raise it you self from the time it was a baby.

I would want a dog before anything else. Not one of the ankle bitter rat things that some people call dogs. But a real dog like a Lab or a Boxer or Pitbull. I honestly don't care if people have exotic animals. If I could I would love to have a tiger. But its the peoples decision on what they have as there pet.

Having an exotic animal that is not used to a closed in environment can be very dangerous. I would NOT have any type of animal in my house other than my Yorkie because im afraid of any other type of dog let alone wild animals. Cheetahs are pretty just where they are . . in the wild !
I think exotic animals deserve to stay free. We should stick with domestic animals in our houses. I don't think we should domesticate any exotic animal.

It's inappropriate to have an exotic pet. Sure, it'd be cool to show off a lion or an elephant or something to your friends, but it's just not fair to the animal itself. I'd much prefer to keep a domestic animal because they are easier to take care of. Exotic animals need special food and care. I think people just want exotic animals to be able to say that they have one. It may seem like it's a privilege to own an exotic animal, but sometimes we have to put animals first. Elephants are people, too.

People are interested in owning exotic pets because they want to own something other than the usual household pets. Cats and dogs are fun but honestly how many people can say they own a tiger or a wolf? I think that owning exotic wildlife as pets is perfectly fine as long as you do your research first and take care of the animal properly. I personally would rather have exotic animals such as hedgehogs, snakes, and maybe a wolf as pets rather than just a house cat or a dog. I think that influences the thoughts of people who own or want to own exotic animals is that,that animal is their favorite animal, an animal that they happen to find interesting or that they just want to have a pet that is out of the norm.
I think the animals are doing good on their own out in nature, especially the ones with big teeth.. I think the people that put them in their homes have a little crazy in them. I think anything you see on the discovery channel doesn't belong in your house. If their still discovering it, they don't know enough about it to safely put it in your home. Although I would love to have a baby tiger, my kitty does just fine.
Owning an exotic animal would be very unsafe. Also before a person tries owning an exotic animal they should be educated in that animal, it's behaviors, and how to properly care for if. Truthfully I think exotic animals should stay in nature but it would be neat to have one. People probably own them just to get attention or to stand out.
I think exotic pets are really cool. I'd like to own a bear because they are awesome. Domestic pets are boring.

In my opinion an exotic pet makes people that stay at home and have friends over feel special about themselves. Honestly id have a regular domestic dog because i dont feel like going all over the friggin place trying to find food for whatever exotic thing i havliving in a special tank at home. Who cares if its right to own an exotic pet as long as you dont kill it on purpose.
Yes i think it is alright to own an exotic animal. I had a chameleon a couple years ago. They are a lot more interesting then a normal animal.

I would have a domestic animal such as a lab. Dogs are wonderful to have around small kids, and most of the time they keep to there selves.
I absolutely love all types of animals. Whether they be exotic of not. As far as having an exotic animal in a household, as long as it doesn't put the animal in any danger and they are able to function and grow properly in an environment such as that, then I believe it is okay.
I personally think that owning exotic pets is not wrong, if you know how to take care of it. I don't think I'd ever get an exotic animal, because I'm perfectly content with something that can't rip my eyes out... Just a thought. It's a cool idea, but it's not for me.
I don't like the fact that your taking the animal away from its home. Its cruel and unfair. They can also be really dangerous.
I love exotic animals. They are the only animals worth having. They are the coolest animals to have.
I would wreather stick to a domestic animal. Wild animals as pets would'nt be healthy towards you n the animal. You never know how it would react to stranagers.
I believee that exotic pets are really cool. I mean I had a juvenile desert gecko for a while. We also have dozens of chickens, but I dont think those are exotic. Some people should just stick to cats and dogs.
I think owning an exotic pets is a great idea. I would love to have a penguin. It is perfect because I will have a bird and it can't fly away.
I think more people are purchasing exotic animals as a pet rather than a domestic one because their more interesting! It would be really cool to own an exotic animal. I actually really want a pet monkey. I think people should be able to own any animal they choose, as long as their able to take care of it.
I think it definitely depends on what you consider an "exotic pet". I own an African Pygmy Hedgehog and he's the best pet I've ever had. When people get exotic pets it's probably because they want an animal with personality. I think there should definitely be a test, or something that regulates if you're allowed to own an exotic pet though. The important thing to remember is that at one time cats and dogs were exotic to us.
I would rather have a domestic animal than an exotic one. Domestic animals are much more easier to care for. Also, exotic animals were meant to live in the wild and they should stay there.
I have a cat, three dogs, fish, and I am soon going to be getting a Conure(bird). I suppose they are all domestic animals, but I would like to own a bearded dragon sometime in the future. I have had an iguana in the past and they are a lot of work to take care of. Even though domestic animals seem to be easier to take care of, I like to challenge myself in the things I do. Cats are independent, if they aren't fed then they can just hunt for themselves. Dogs are fairly similar in that aspect as well.

If people choose to own an exotic animal, let them knock themselves out. I prefer to have a domesticated animal over an exotic animal. Some people prefer an exotic animal, but I would rather own a cute pouch any day!
I remember when I was a little kid that my friends wanted exotic animals like monkeys for a pet. This always amused me, but my daddy won't even let me keep a cat in the house! It would be awesome to have a little lion cub or a flamingo, but that's just so unrealistic. This world is becoming so modern and advanced and now, even people can be considered exotic. Therefore, why not have exotic pets to match their owners?

Not much could come from owning an "exotic" animal. I've seen documentaries on this. The owner thinks the animal loves them and that it could do no harm. But it's the animal's instinct to do such "harm". When you take an animal out of it's natural environment, don't be shocked if it mawls you! I would rather own no pet. I'm not the person to be fond of animals, they actually petrify me! (Some!) Dogs especially though. But I own a dog... It's more cat-like than anything, though!
I'd definitely rather have a domestic animal... I don't really care if people have exotic animals, but I remember when that lady's pet monkey went crazy on her best friend and really messed her up a couple years ago, it was terrible. So, I would be perfectly happy with a dog or cat.
I would love to have a exotic animal in my house. I think it will be a fun thing i want a white tiger. The reason being is becasue they are really pretty. I think people would be kinda okay with it but then again not so okay with it.

I think you should be allowed to own exotic animals as long as you can take care of it. I want a friggin monkey so bad like you dont even know. I would be so happy if i got a monkey.
i think we can have an exotic pet i would want a white tiger they are big and can protect you if u was in any danger.
