With a Little Help From my Friends...

By now, you may have heard of Elizabeth Hughes. Elizabeth is an eight year old girl who sung the National Anthem at last Friday's Norfolk Admirals hockey game. Watch the video, and read the news article. What do you think of the crowd's reaction? Did you notice that someone laughs at this little girl's microphone cuts out after the words "gave proof" at about the 1:30 mark? Then someone shushes her! Then the crowd helped her finish the anthem! What a truly inspiring moment! Did you notice that this event happened in Norfolk?

Your job: Watch the video and tell us what you thought of this event. Did you notice the rudeness or the helpfulness of the crowd?

The little girl was very professional and even continued to sing after her microphone cut off. It was very touching when the crowd picked up the singing for her. The lady who laughed was very rude, as this was not the girl’s fault.

The crowd's reaction was rude and helpful. I wouldn't be able to recognize where the events take place, because I don't know my geography. When someone "shushes" someone, they were probably talking to the lady who was laughing. I think that it was cute when the crowd helped her finish the National Anthem.

I noticed the rudeness of the crowd. They should of just let here sing. Then didn't need to interrupt here.

I think the girl did pretty good to her age. The people that laughed at her did not have a kind heart at all. I also think the crowd did a good thing by helping her finish out the song.

What they did to her was wrong. She is only eight years old. For her age she did a great job

I thought that when the microphone went out the crowed did a good job of helping the little 8 yr sing the song. I know I would have been kinda scared to be up there by myself. I'm glad it wasn't me up there.

I think it was a very touching event when the crowd helped the little girl finish her song. They are "true" friends. I also noticed that the lady who laughed at her was very rude. The little girl couldn't help it that the microphone cut out on her. Overall, the little girl did an amazing job. :)

Elizabeth has a beautiful voice. It’s such I strong voice for an eight year old. I love to sing but I wish I was brave enough to sing I front of a lot of people like she did. It was rude of the crowed to laugh at the little girl when the microphone went off but it was nice that they helped her after.

This little girl is an excellent singer. She is very talented and professional. This really shows that American's still have heart. The one lady really needs to get a life laughing at an 8 year-old-girl

I noticed that someone laughed at the end of the song. Thats a typical American laughing at the girl. It was a heartwarming moment for the true Americans. Everyone sung along to finish the song becuase that for The United States of America and should be sung respectfully.

The person who laughed is very rude. But the part of the crowd who helped sing was very helpful. It must have taken some courage to sing even after the mike breaks.

Yeah that was rude for the lady to laugh at the little girl. The little girl has an amazing voice especially for her age. She did the rihgt thing to keep singing, and if I was in the crowd I'd sing out loud too. It's the right thing to do. It is America, and people should act like it. :)

I thought that little girl could sing. It was nice of the crowd to finish up the National Anthem with the girl. I thought it was also rude that that person was laughing at her.

I think this little girl sing real good in this video. I think it was rude when the lady started laughing. I also think is very generous o them to start singing it to back her up.

I believe this video captures the true spirit of America, people helping out their fellow neighbor. This girl was probably thinking that her whole performance was messed up when the microphone went out. Then, in the spur of the moment the stadium joins in to help her finish the patriotic number. The lady laughing was just a mere annoyance, and quieting her was executed properly.

I noticed the rudeness of the crowd. I also noticed kindess of the crowd when they helped her finish the song. The lady who laughed should be ashamed of herself.

I think the crowd's reaction was a little bit rude, but helpful in the end. I don't think it was very polite for that person to act as rudely as they did. I think the little girl did very well for her mic to go out and she didn't act shy or stop. She continued with the wonderful song with no problem.

I think that the video that we watched about the little girl’s microphone going out when she sings the national anthem is very funny. It made it better when the crowed started to sing after it went out. I hope that never happens to me because if it did I probably would be very embarrassed.

The kid was great. The lady in the crowd is stupid to do that to the little girl. Then the crowd started to support the kid. That’s what I like to see.

The little girl was a very good singer, and she had a lot of guts because I would have been very nervous. But I do think that the crowd was very helpful by join in. But who ever was controlling the sound they didnt do a good job. She could really sing and I applause her for that.

I thought this video was so precious! When her microphone turned off, the crowd helped her and sang for her! It was very touching and showed me that there are still good people in the country.

I think the crowd was very rude for finishing the song off at the end with her. She did a good job, even though she's not a grown up. They could have had some respect for her!

I thought that when the crowd helped her sing it was really sweet. The little girl didn't panic when her microphone cut out either. I thought it was really disrespectful when that one person laughed at her.

I think Elizabeth is an amazing singer for being 8 years old! There are some people in the crowd who chuckled, but I don't believe they were laughing at her, I believe they were laughing at the situation to lighten up the mood. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how the crowd helped her finish the National Anthem while Elizabeth Hughes was still singing instead of throwing a tantrum, like most 8 year old kids would do. about the microphone cutting off.

I think the girl did very good for her age. It was rude that the lady laughed at her, it wasn't her fault that, that happened to her. It was nice that all the people in the stands started singing with her, and that she kept on singing.

The little girl has a wonderful voice to me. I think it was very rude for the person to laugh at the little girl, she is only eight years old. The crowd was very rude, but also supportive to the little girl at the same time. I hope she has a successful life, when she gets older.

This event was truly remarkable and awe-inspiring. The laughter was very rude. However, the joining together of the crowd was truly one of inspiration.

I think the little girl did a great job singing even after the mic had cut off. The laughing was very uncalled for in my opinion. I think the rest of the crowd did a great job helping her finish the song.

I thought that the little girl that sang the National Anthem was cute. She was a great singer and when the microphone cut off I did her a women laugh but I didn’t hear the shoosh. I thought that when the crowd helped the girl it was respectful and I bet it made her feel good. When the microphone cut off it was kind of weird when it cut off at “Gave Proof”. But this was interesting to hear and I think the little girl did great when she sang I would have congratulated her on what a good job she did.

I like the video. First of all, that girl can sing. that showed alot of respect that the crowd did that for the little girl.

That was messed up. That makes me made someone would laugh at that little girl. I'm glad they matured up and helped finish the song

Even though her microphone off she was professional about it. The crowd did have a rudeness to it and that was mean. They shouldnt have interuppted her.

I thought the crowd was very rude they should have given her a little slack. But in my opinion she did very well for her age and the she had the courage to sing in front of tons of people was very brave. It was cute that they help her sing.

The little girl was a good singer. It makes me a little angry when they laughed at the little girl. The little girl should have stopped singing.
