The Menorah lighting was instituted as a publicity strategy: advertising to the entire world that G d makes miracles for those who stand up for truth and justice. The Menorah was made when Maccabees chased away the forces of darkness with swords; we do it with candles. That's why we light the Menorah shortly after sunset. There are two exceptions, on Friday evening, light the candles before sunset. on Saturday evening light them after dark.

I'm not really a big fan of Hanukkah. To me Christmas and Hanukkah are similar. The only thing that is different between those two is you light 9 candles and all the Jews celebrate Hanukkah. I love Christmas. The reason why i celebrate Christmas is because that is the day Jesus died for all of us.

I know that it was started because a group of Jews had attacked a temple. After they took control of the temple they lit nine candles. They only had oil to light the candles for one night, but it burned for eight days. So now the Jewish community celebrate Hanukkah for eight days. I think this holiday is very important to the Jewish community

I just figured out there are many ways to spell Hanukkah. And on December 1st your supposed to light one of the candles. The candle thing is called a menorah. Hanukkah and Christmas are alike in a lot of ways. Such as food and getting together with family.

Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish holiday, where people light one candle everyday. It is celebrated on the eve of the 25th day of the Jewish month Kislev. It celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and the purity of adulteration. It also celebrates the spirituality over materiality. I would celebrate Hanukkah, but I don't have time to. I celebrate Christmas instead.

Hanukkah is a Jewish celebration. There are many famous people who are Jewish such as David Lee Roth and the Three Stooges. A popular symbol of the Hanukkah celebration is the menorah, in which eight candles are lit. Another popular Hanukkah tradition is gambling with a dreidel. Each night a candle on the menorah is lit, presents are given to an individual each night.

I don't know much about Hanukkah. The only thing I know about it is that, they get 8 days of gifts. That is also associated with the 8 eight candles they light each night. From the website I learned that the Jewish people have an item called a Menorah. The Menorah is one of the oldest symbols of Jewish faith. They also have a sacred place called a Synagogue. A Synagogue is their church. It's where they pray, study and are educated at.
