Barry Manilow Crime Fighter

Maybe you have heard this one. Barry Manilow is fighting crime! Okay, so he is not exactly arresting miscreants, but his music is being used to keep trouble making people out of certain car lots in Australia. Maybe you have heard him sing before and you thought he was "cheesy." That is okay, but in the 1970s and 1980s he was one of the most popular recording artists in America, especially with the ladies!

What do you think of music that is not popular with certain people being used to keep them from gathering in an area where they might cause problems for others? Is this an infringement on their rights or does it protect the rights of others? What music would you use to keep crime down?

I think it very smart to use music in that way. I'm sure you could solve a lot of problems by using music. To me it is protecting the rights of others. By protecting them (the people) and their property. If I could choose a genre too keep crime down I would use Country music.

I think that using the music that is not popular with certain people to keep them from gathering in an area is not smart. Personally, I don't think that this has anything to do with crime. People will committ crimes no matter what. I guess you could say that it would cut down on the people who do not listen to the music, but it would not completely get rid of them. This solution was directed at youths. It may not work because the youths might also be familiar and like the music.

One word…unbelievable! There is no way that there is a certain music that will keep people from doing wrong. If so we should use it in America. I just don’t get how music can protect people, isn’t that what the law is for? First of all I wouldn’t use music to keep crime down because it wouldn’t work. For me to believe that the music would work I would have to see for myself because there is just no way.

I think this is a very good idea. It is a simple idea that seems like it would work. Most people wouldn't want to hang out at a place where unpopular or disliked music was played. I think it's interesting how music affects people. Many businesses use music to try and make people buy things, not just in commercials, but over speakers in the stores. I think they said "peaceful" or "serene" music made people more apt to shop. It is just weird how these things work.

When I first read this I thought it was hilarious and clever. Criminals can’t be found where Barry Manilow is heard, they have to protect their image. I believe people doing this is perfectly fine and funny. If I were to do this, I would go to an area of criminal gathering and blast Backstreet Boys and N’Sync music all day.

I do not think it is an infringement on their rights because they might see it as not fair but it is protecting the rights of others. I think that the music that is being used to keep people from starting problems is interesting. I honestly do not know what music I would use to keep crime down. I would have to really think about the music I would use to make sure it’s appropriate.

I know who he is and I have never understood why he is so good. I’ve never like his songs or his voice. Those are the things that are the most important things in music. The singer needs a good voice and good songs. He never did.

I think it’s a good idea to use music that is not popular with certain people to keep them from gathering in an area where they might cause problems for others. It protects the rights of others and keeps people safe. For example, gangs probably like head banging music, so to keep them away from a certain area, one might use elevator music or opera to keep them away. I would use country music or oldies to keep crime down. Most people that listen to these types of music are not trouble makers.

I think this is an excellent idea. If they’re playing music people don’t normally listen to then the people wont sit around trying to start trouble for everyone else. As far as rights are concerned, I don’t think they really matter at the moment. If someone’s safety is being involved then it shouldn’t matter what rights say. I think using classical music would be the best thing to do, because it doesn’t have a negative, or positive image, and not many people really enjoy listening to it.

I feel that Barry Manilow is a wonderful singer and songwriter but I don’t believe that music can stop the spread of crime, if that was true that there would not be as much crime in the world today. Therefore, I believe music can not influence people to do what is right, if music is good for anything it good at expressing feelings and beliefs but never crime or indecency. Although, music is important in many ways it does not at all help the spread of crime.

The kind of music that I’ll play at a gathering is R&B and Soul. I will never play hip-hop music because it possible would cause violence. When young people get around each other it seems like they can’t act in a civilized manner. Another thing I just hate hip-hop music. It has so much going on in it.

I think it is very good to use nonpopular music with certain people to keep them from gathering in area where they might cause problems for others. I think it protect the rights of others. The music that I would use to keep crime down would be gospel music.

This could possibly keep people away. Although you still may have people who will still do bad thing s no matter what they hear. I would rather be with my friends in a place that did not play music that we didn’t like. My least favorite type of music is oldies. Please don’t play that in class!

I think that this is a very creative idea. In my opinion I think that this may work sometimes but not every time. Some people may actually stay there and tune out the music and some individuals may recognize and like the music. I think this is protecting the rights of others because it is protecting people from commiting crimes and stealing property. If I could choose what type of music to use I would probably play very old slow music that wasn't very popular or I would play Country music because not many people seem to like it.

I think that it's a smart thing to do. I do not think that it would cut down the problem completly; but I am sure it does help. The song we herd today sounded something like you would hear at Water Country. The music they play there is quite annoying but I still find myself wanting to go there. So I guess they used that music for different reasons.

I think that using that is not as popular as others, to keep people from gathering in that area is dumb. People are going do as they please, no matter what. This music may affect the numbers of people but I don't think it will have an impact on what people choose to do.

I think that it is not so good an idea to use music to stop people from being someplace. If they are really determined to be there, they will be there. Music can do alot of things, but I doubt it can stop a criminal from stealing or vandalizing something. If that was a regular hangout, I think the place would be in even more danger because now they have to find somewhere new to hang out resulting in them to destroy the property. They should just try and figure something else out because the human mind conquers music.

Though there are many types of music, I do not think that any particular type of music will keep people from gathering in an area. Everybody has different tastes, so what one person hates, one person may love. I believe that you will not find a music that absolutely no one will like. Someone would have had to of liked it at least a little to have that music made in the first place. We need to consider a different type of security in order to prevent crimes. I do not think this will help.

I think it would be a very good idea to use music to keep groups from meeting in certain places. I think it is a harmless way to regulate different types of people form meeting around our business. Depending on the type of music it might not work. The people you are trying to drive away might actually like the music being played. I would probably stay away form a place that played screaming music the whole time.

I think maybe it is good to use music in that way, but yet kind of funny. I personally think that people are going to do what they want to do, reguardless of the music. Using music that is not popular with different people to keep them from gathering at an area is kind of pointless. It can be useful or unuseful, however if it works play the music.

I don't believe that music has anything really anything to do with solving problems. Problems are solved by people in their own way. But don't get me wrong a lot of people listen to music. And of course a lot of them are persuaded by the music they hear. But then again not everyone is.

I think that it is kind of crazy because it is not going to always keep certain people away. I admit that certain music will make me not want to go some places. If they see the need to use this method of handling crime, it must work. The best thing about the way that they are handling these problems is that they are not using violence and police, just music. Honestly, I don't think it will work very long before they are going to have to change something. You can never keep everyone away because what someone doesn't like, another does.

To be for real I think that it is not a good thing to do but it does stop crime in that area. But there also lost money from the people that come to were there is just to shop and hear that music. If there don’t like it there may leave. Yes I do think that an infringement on their rights cause not all people won’t to hear that. But in my option its ok.

It is funny what people will do to stop people from coming some where. I think it is smart thinking. It is a very thoughtful idea. It keeps people you do not want around away. That brings more good consumers.

In one way it is a smart idea and in another way it is'nt. To use music to stop crime is something that just sounds like a stupid idea because what if people actually start to like it or maybe those people that they are trying to get rid of might react in a violent way because they are tired of it. Music should'nt be used for that reason. That is what the law is for. Although they do need a little help with trying to get crime of the street. Actually they need a lot!!! But anyway I loved the video!!!
