A Reason to pay Attention While Texting

Consider this:  There are approximately 7 billion people in the world.  In 2011 there were approximately 19 billion text messages sent daily.  That works out to about 3 per person. Are you doing your part?  Okay, maybe that is not a fair question.  But if you consider all the people who may not have cell phones, it is still quite a large number.

We all know that texting while driving is dangerous.  But did you ever consider that texting while walking might be dangerous?  Check out this video!

Here is your assignment:  Tell us what you think of the video.  Do you pay attention to your surroundings while texting?  What can you do to make texting while walking safer?

This video was funny. I could never text and walk. I would have to stop, so I have no need to pay attention to my surroundings. To make walking and texting safer, I wont do it at all.

This video is very funny by the way! But on the other hand, I think that if you get a text and you are walking somewhere make sure you aren't crossing a street or about to walk off a sidewalk things like that. To me I think by make walking and texting safer is to wait until you get to your destination, cause the text you get isn't more important than your life.

I think that video is a good way of telling that some people don't pay attention while texting and walking. When I'm texting, most of the time I pay attention to what's going on around me. Now that I've seen that video I'm most definitely going to pay attention to what's going on around me. Instead of texting while walking, you could just stop and text and make sure you know what's around you.

I think that we should pay more attention while texting or we shouldn't text at all while walking. It is very dangerous because if you live in an area that is heavily traveled by cars you could cause yourself to maybe be hit by a car and be killed. I can't say that I don't txt while walking but I do constantly keep checking where I am an what is coming my way.

I believe that video is very scary to me, because some bears are very territorial and can instantly attack at any time. That person was really lucky to escape without being mauled. In my opinion I would never text while walking on a road or in the woods while hunting that way I can pay attention while walking without getting ran over, or getting mauled or bitten by a bear or by snakes.

I usually pay attention when I'm texting. Yet it's also a good idea not to text while walking. It could result in a dangerous situation.

That bear didnt care about that guy. He was probably more confused about where he was. He had no intentions of hurting that idiot. Even though it was smart to run just incase.

This video is very funny. I never walk and text, I always stop then text. So things like that will not happen. I bet he wont walk and text anymore neither.

The video is really funny, but you really can't blame the guy texting. He was walking on a narrow sidewalk and also the bear just came around the corner before he looked up.
Also: You don't expect a bear walking around in the neighborhood

I usually have problems with texting while walking, so I usually stand still when I do it. So I'm usually aware of my surroundings.

I text while I walk but I don’t see a bear on my road every day. You have to know what you are doing while texting and multitasking. It is dangerous but I don’t see the big deal. If I see a bear I’m running too.

I think that texting while walking can be dangerous. You could walk in front of a car and get hurt or killed. The man in the video could have very easily walked right into that bear if he wouldn't have looked up at that last second.

I think we should definately pay more attention while texting. You never know what might pop out in front of you if your not paying attention. This man was very lucky that he saw the bear before he got to close, it could have been a lot worse than it was.

I think that you should pay attention to your surroundings while texting and walking. No, not everyday there is gonna be a bear walking around when your texting but there could be other things, like if your walking in a city with a bunch of cars, you could get hit by it. So pay attention to your surroundings.

This video is hilarious! Honestly I probably would've done the same thing as the man. It would've been funnier if he would've run into the bear in my opinion but oh well. I guess next time that guy will look up every two seconds if he's walking and texting.

People should pay attention while they text because you never know what you could run into. To make it safer if you are walking stop before you start to text. That way you won't run into anything.

This video is a good example of people how don't pay attention while texting. Maybe if he wasn't texting then he would have seen the bear coming down the ally. He really should have been paying attention.

I think the guy texting should have been paying more attention to his surroundings . Even though the bear didn't look like he was going to do anything he could have became aggressive and attacked the guy. I'm just saying we as in everyone should pay more attention to our surroundings and be more cautious.

This video was funny and also tells that people should pay more attention when texting. When I'm texting and walking I never pay attention to where I'm going. I think if your going to text you should stop and see whats around you first before you go anywhere.

I believe that you cannot make a safer way to text while walking. It will always be an issue but if certain people are too ignorent to check where they are going they should not be able to own a cell-phone. I do think that this video is halariouse and should definantly be shown to people who carelessly text and drive.

Jazzmine Bynum,
I pay a lot of attention while I am texting because I have become so familiar with my phone to the point that I can look an individual’s directly in the eyes while texting and hold a conversation with them. There are a few ways to become a safer texter; don't text in an environment where there is a lot going and don't text to the point that you can't see what's directly in front of you. Overall I think that this was an interesting blog, and I thought this blog brought an amazing view point!

Nothing can be 100% perfect, everything has a downside to the action, and there will forever be multiple reactions. Precaution is needed to be kept safe, but too much precaution can ruin a person's life. This is why texting and driving are very much needed to stop, but someone still does...Texting and walking, we have a better chance of trying to rid the world of disease.

I can text and walk at the same time, but every once in a while i look up to see where I'm going. But I really do not like bears, so after this video I will not walk and text and walk while I'm outside.
