SOL Time

They are here and you may have already taken one of them. That's right, I am talking about SOL tests. They are among the most stressful things going on at WHS this week and next. Doesn't it seem that everyone is talking about them?

Teachers stress over them. Parents stress over them. Students probably stress over them, also. Are they causing you a lot of stress? What do you think of them? If you could, would you change them and how? Please tell us what you think of them and if you would make any changes to the format.

This semester I have two SOL classes: history and math. The classes have a lot of information I need to know, so I am stressing a little, because I don't know what to expect or if I know all of the material. I do not like SOLs, especially when they test us on things that we never covered in class. I think that teachers should get a say in the SOL tests,so we can be properly prepared. The only thing I like about SOLs is that it tells the school if the students actually learned anything or not.

Everyone is talking about SOL’s. The SOL's do cause a lot of stress to me because you have to read certain things and info. I don’t like taking the Sol’s. They are way too hard and you have to know a lot of information that you have learned. The way they could change them is by giving us less questions.

I think the SOL will cause me a lot of strees. I think they are very very hard I'm not good at remebering everything I did over the year. I do not know how I can make them less streesful.

I don't really stress over tests or SOL tests. If I stress all I will do is make myself fail. SOL's are important and I feel like they are what we need. Sometimes the things they do to make sure no student is cheating seems a bit ridiculous to me but besides that I wouldn’t change them.

I think SOLs are stupid! We learn all this stuff and the teachers prepare us for just the big test. Some teacher’s favorite lessons are cut out because the state says it’s not going to be tested this year. In my opinion 9 weeks exams should be good enough because as long as we learn and successfully pass school 1 test shouldn’t determine if we fail that class or not.

Well, I'm not all that stressed over SOLs since I only had one and I've already taken it. I studied hard so I'm not really worried about it. I like taking SOLs on the computer opposed to taking them on paper like we did back in the day. It's a lot less stressful. So really, there's nothing I would change.

I hate SOL, this semester I don't have any SOL except reading SOL. That's the only SOL I had to do. I also hate that I have to stare into a computer screen and sit on a chair for hours. My body starts getting crazy and just dying to just stand up. I want to pass the SOL but not stress at it.

I only had to take on sol this semester and it was kind of hard. I don’t really care much about them. There kind of a waste of time.

I think that the SOL tests are very stressful. I think that the SOL test is just regular test on the computer. I also think we shouldn't have to take them.

Keith Bryant: Well truthfully SOL’s do not really bother me because I know if I applied myself well enough they will be no issues. Knowing that I have, I have no worries. Typically they are scary, but recently I have changed my life plans and know that I personally will do great.

I don’t like sol test. I only take because I have to. I was lucky though I only have to take a history sol.

Yes, it is a a lot of stress. I wish they never was made or thought about. I think if we pass the class that should be good enough.
