Be Careful of The Guy in The Wheelchair

This must have been a scary moment for Will Privette.  The wheelchair bound student from North Carolina State was part of a large group celebration after The Wolfpack upset top ranked  Duke on Saturday afternoon in Raleigh.  Privette who had part of a leg amputated when he was a child is a regular attendee of Wolfpack games.  He also acts as a statistician for the Wolfpack baseball team.

As the final seconds ticked off the clock and the game ended, Privette, who sits close to the action at the games, was wheeled onto the court and stopped at mid court.  Just moments later the entire student section charged onto the court.  In the crush the wheelchair was tipped over, Privette fell out and lost his glasses and cell phone.  The good news is that he was not hurt and seems to not be upset about it at all.

Should the students rushing the court have been more controlled and kept away from his wheelchair?  Maybe Will should have stayed off the court.  Would not allowing any students to rush the court have been a better idea?  What do you think should the response have been after the game?  Would you have been scared during this event?

  2. Yes because its a big game its for the fun. Just because hes in a wheelchair doesn't mean they shouldn't have fun.

  4. The students rushing the court was understanable. It was huge win. It should be more controlled considering it's a major sports event. If I was the guy, I'd be pretty mad, pretty scared too.

  5. I think it is fine that everyone went on the court to celebrate. Will just wanted to celebrate with everyone. I wouldn't have been scared it is just a big celebration. There is nothing wrong with celebrating.

  6. I personally believe that the guy who wheeled him into the court while a wild group of people rushed onto it is a little to blame. Since he wasn't hurt, it's not really that big of a deal. People can run around on courts if they wish to.

  7. I think that the person in the wheelchair should not have gone on the basketball court. With all of those people going after the guy I would be scared. I would not want to be chased by all of those poeple when a game is going on.

  8. Ok what happened exactly to make those people go on the court. Did someone smack someone or something. I never really catch the problem instantly.

  9. I"m not surprised by the students rushing the court. They shouldn't have let the person in the wheelchair on the court for saftey reasons. This video shows great team pride.

  10. I think the students that were rushing to the court after the big win should have not rushed, and should have more control over themselves. In my opinion the guy in the wheel chair should have not been in the middle of the court until after the crowd has gathered their composure. I would be scared of the big crowd serioulsy injuring me. That is my opinion.

  15. I think it was funny how all of the kids ran out on the court. I would do that if I could. Hopefully the man in the wheelchair didn't get injured by all of the people.

  16. I don't think the man in the wheelchair should have been out there, for his own safety. It wasn't really anyone's fault tho, the kids were excited. I hope the man in the wheelchair isn't hurt!

  17. Wow, that was crazy. I mean, it looked like all those people just came in rushing and just got on top of the guy in the wheel chair bly and it looked like he was probably suffocating. Like, if you're in a wheel chair just chill!

  18. I think that they should have been more careful of the guy in the wheelchair. But also he could have waited to come out on the court after most of the crowd had got down. It was funny to watch though.

  21. I think that the guy in the wheel chair should have waited to go out on the court. The people didn’t mean any harm to him, they were all excited and most likely didn’t see him. Its sad that it happen but at least he is not upset about it.

  22. I was watching this game when the NC State Wolf Pack beat the undefeated Duke Blue Devils. Before the game was over, the fans surrounded the game waiting to storm the court for the big win. While they were scanning the fans, I saw the man in the wheelchair in the front of the crowd. When they actually stormed the court, you see the man in the wheelchair come across the floor and be pushed aside like he wasn't even noticed. I feel bad for the man but he did decide on his own to go and celebrate with the team and athletic community. The man was fine throughout the physical pushing and was able to enjoy the wonderful win.

  23. It was great how they came out on the court. They should've been more careful. Some people are over dramatic.

  24. I do not think that the students should have been more controlled. Will Privette should have been well aware of the risks involved with rushing on the court that way. I would have been worried about him getting hurt; however, if he was that concerned about it, he should not have rushed on the court. The students should not be told that they cannot rush on the court. It is there way of celebration, they should be able to enjoy.

  27. I don't feel bad for the man in the wheelchair because he could have stayed out the way. And just because he was in a wheelchair doesn't mean it was a bad thing that he went out there. The man was having fun celebrating like a normal person.

  28. This was funny. The man pushing the wheel chair shouldn't of never ran on the court with him. Knowing he's in a wheel chair and not able to move. It looked fun doe getting pushed really fast to the middle of the court. Hilarious.

  29. I think he should have stayed off of the court. That is only because rushing the court seems to be a tradition at some games. But yes, i would be scared if i got rushed by one hundred crazy basketball fans.
